[WCCF] AMD RX 480 Hits US Stores, Supply 25x Larger Than GTX 1080 At Launch

Interestingly, yesterday a Microcenter branch in Overland Park Kansas revealed to a customer that they’re receiving a shipment of 100 RX 480 cards on the 28th of June. That’s exactly 25 times as many GTX 1080 cards the same branch had at launch, which was only four. We called the branch & confirmed. We were also told that their stock of GTX 1080 cards is currently limited to one per customer due to limited supply.

Source is wccftech so make of it what you will. (http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-480-shipments-hit-us-stores/)

Feel free to delete / lock if posted already. I couldn't find one so here it is.

Wasn't that said here on OCN and then reposted on reddit and now in some wanna be news?
Many shops have already commented on being stocked well for the launch.

Well that's good news since you would need like three of them to match a 1080.

Didn't read about stock levels for 480 on OCN.. must have missed that thread.

So the shortage of 1080s and the availability of the 480 pre-launch isn't news? If the companies where switched would it still be non-news?

I doubt anyone looking for performance wants a 480. I have a lot of coworkers who game in 1080p only who are interested though. Personally I'm waiting for the 1080 TI and Vega to hit before I choose my next upgrade.

Anybody considering a 1080 would never in a million years bat an eyelash at the 480.

As I've said before, 480 CF is for those willing to put up with CF issues to get 1080+ performance for less money.

That was the point in my post, a clickbait article comparing stock of two cards no where near in the same league/price range. What was the point lol.

For those looking for a 480 its nice to know the cards won't be back-ordered like the other 14/16 nm cards. They aren't comparing cards in the same performance and price segment, but they are comparing cards from the same "generation".

Whatever, 25x0 is still 0... it should be hundreds more.

so you expect them to sell 100x more of these than the 1080 will? i think you are retty wrong, but 25x more seems reasonable

am planning to pick one up myself since i game in 1080p and dont care to drop a house payment worth of money when a 1080 is completely unnecessary for my setup, and i upgrade to 1440 later i think the 480 will be just fine.

still waiting for some more credible benchmarks before a decision is made though.
