Do you happen to work at your PC?

I wonder if the cards are out of stock so quickly purely because of these flippers.

I ran Distill over the weekend and snagged an EVGA 1080 SC. Amazon and Newegg alerts are laughably slow. nowinstock.net wasn't all that helpful.
Asus seems to have the lowest stock, I really wanted a Strix OC but I only saw them in stock twice, both times while I was asleep.
EVGA and MSI have had decent stock lately.

How much did you pick it up for? I'd like to pick up a 1070 FTW or SSC.

I paid $649 for the EVGA GTX 1080 SC ACX 3.0

Plenty of people have reached 2.1GHz on this card so it seems to OC well. I won't push it until I need to, which won't be for a while.
It seems to be on par with the FEs, but runs a bit cooler and silent.

The 1070 model is $439 for the same ACX SC version.

Now I'm not surprised why Nvidia is the dominant market-share holder and people just keep on buying green. With AMD, its just one disappointment after another and the hype they generate makes it all the worse.

Nah I disagree. It was Raja who was hyping up the whole perf/watt thing since last year.

He was even hyping up 480's in crossfire is absolutely faster that a GTX 1080 and a lot of red fans believed that.

Yeah fair enough, they probably had hypothetical performance per watt increases on paper that didn't go so well through the manufacturing process.

Huang stretched the truth too about cards being easily Oc'd to 21000mhz. There's always going to be a bit of this going on, you put your products in their best case scenarios, and technically it's not lying.

To be fair I don't think Raja claimed that crossfire would beat the 1080 in every game, and I have seen benches of it beating it in Black ops and of course AotS so..........

90% or more of the hype is in our minds. They just plant some seeds.

He showed one slide of CF 480 beating a single 1080 in AotS.

I think this is a classic case of each side interpreting it their way and using it as ammo against the other.

Regardless of interpretation and bias. It still resulted in quite a few people in forums and social media talking about wanting to buy 2 480's since they thought it would generally beat a GTX1080 for less. If that isn't marketing then I don't know what is.
