Problem with latency joining games

Hi everyone,

I'm from Argentina, I have 10mb of internet speed.
I'm using TP-LINK N900 2.4GHz or 5GHz up to 450Mbps Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter for Windows (TL-WDN4800)

I have had this problem for a few weeks now, I mostly play Battlefield 4 in Brazilian servers, when I'm looking where to join I have the ping display from Battlelog saying it's 50ms but then when I join I have 999ms ingame and with cmd I can see my ping rockets to over a thousand.

If I wait for over 5 minutes, then the ping goes back to normal, with a few spikes here and there.
At first I thought this was problem with Battlefield, so I opened all the ports required by the game in my router, but nothing changed.
So I stopped playing BF4 and went to play offline games. But now I purchased Rainbow Six Siege in the Steam Sale (which I have played in the beta without any issues with a ping of 200ms most of the time) to my surprise it seems it was not a problem with BF4 because now I have the same issue, when I join my ping goes to over 999 and I get kicked inmediatly by the server because of that.

I really have no idea what is going on, is it the wireless adapter or the router?
Any help is welcome!
Thanks.

it's probably either that the server location is too far from you, causing a lot of hops, or some sort of packet loss.

download winMTR if you have the IP address, it can trace the route the packets are taking and see if any of them are getting dropped.

I don't think is the server location, I have played lots of time in those servers, and in USA servers never had a problem like this.
Could be the fault of the ISP that is loosing the packets or that is intentionally blocking my games?
I followed a guide I found that adds two new DWORD in the Registry to avoid loosing packets but it didn't change anything...

The question is what's changed, I'd check if the firmware, drivers or configurations have changed anywhere first, or some physical mishap. Two conflicting static IP's can cause issues (like disconnects) which is easy to overlook. Are you on adsl or cable (if adsl which version)? If no joy checking your setup maybe report a fault.

EDIT/PS: I know some of this seems obvious, but it's easy to forget about some changes that happened. I'd suspect mostly the wifi adapter or routers wireless configuration/positioning btw. If you can test with an ethernet cable that'd give you a better idea where to look.

Thanks for reply, I called my ISP and used the empathy tactic and they fixed it. Now I´m playing with 80ms in Rainbow Six Siege.
