USB 9 pin v 8pin?

Thread Starter
I have just bought the NZXT IU01 and plan to attach it to my only mobo USB header which is USB3.0. I have bought a usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 adapter to connect the board but the usb 2.0 only has 8 pins while the NZXT board has 9 pins. Can i still connect it? whats the purpose of the 9th pin?

The ninth pin is an extra ground. You should be fine.
