Looking for 2-in-1 / Convertibles

Hey!

I was looking around for a good mobile device and started looking in to 2-in-1/convertibles. I'd like to ask for some suggestions or advice regarding those devices.

I would like to do:
- Playing games on emulators: NDS, PSX, PSP, N64, GC(maybe)
- Media: YouTube, Twitch, Movies, Anime, Manga, "Research", ect.
- Browsing
- Use bluetooth stuff: headphones and controller
- SD/XC slot would be nice

I'd like to test them but i know of no store that displays anything besides apple and samsung products so yeah... User experience is welcome!

I own a Asus Transformer 2 in 1. Biggest thing with these types of computers is what is your price point? the 300 to 400 dollar range is decent stuff but the higher you go in price the higher all the specs and quality will generally be. My 2 in 1 is a quad core bay trail Z3775 and 2 gigs of ram with 32gb storage and 500gb hard drive in the dock. I spent about 300 on it new and aside from the ram its a good system. cpu can do everything but 1080p60 youtube but 720p60 is fine. most systems will have cherry trail cpus though and will be more powerful overall. biggest thing to look out for is the ram. 4gb minimum. 2gb is way to restricting. 3 tabs max after that it slows down alot especially running chrome. hope this helps a little bit, throw me a price point and i'll see what i can find for you, any other questions feel free to ask.

In the price range of 500 ish would be nice.

I saw a surface pro 4, i5, 4gb ram 128gb SSD for 700chf on a auction with tippe cover and Hardcase. Should end in a few hours.

I personally was looking in to the Sony xperia z4 tablet and the Samsung Galaxy tab s2 but couldn't quit find emulator reviews for those devices.

I found myself liking a tablet 2in1 bit more interesting but besides that mentioned surface nothing comes close to my price range.

I tried to grasp where core m, core i5 u, snapdragon 810 and 652, exynos 5433 and Tegra x stand to each other in terms of performance, but no one did comparisons to those cpu.

Yea the cpu differences between laptops and phones/tablets sucks because there are virtually no benchmarks that can be run on both for solid numbers for performance. core i5 is going to be the highest performing hands down with most of the core m models being behind it. the 810 and tegra x i'd say are equal with the tegra having more gpu horsepower by far but equal cpu wise. 652 and 5433 i'd say fall after that and perform similarly performance wise. ( this is mostly going off my own knowledge of the cpu's but i believe it to be mostly accurate ) 2 in 1 wise, i know you were looking at that Surface but do you want a 2 in 1 like a tablet that had a keyboard dock it can connect to and disconnect whenever or a 2 in 1 that the screen flips around to the back for tablet use and back around for laptop use. or do you not have a preference? Emulator wise i generally say windows tab's and computers are your best bet because it has alot more options for running the emulators vs android.

Thanks for that post. The surface is of the table since it was sold (for 700).

If I could I would go for the yoga 900 with that cool hinge, but it's ridiculous expensiv. Could get a gaming notebook for that amount of money that has 30x the power.

I thought about android tablets with keyboard covers for a while but there dosn't seem to be a golden one yet.

The Google pixel c has the Tegra X1 which has the highest gpu power and is high up with cpu power as well. It lacks a SD slot...

The z4 tablet is a beauty but has overheating issues = throttling. And it's also fairly expebsive.

The tab s2 can be found second hand refurbished for 150-200 cheaper, but the sd652 and the exynos 5433 aren't on the z4 or pixel c level.

All three run android, have good screens and fairly bad battery life for a tablet~ all three have type covers but the pixel c takes the crown with that amazing hinge.

The tab2 can be bought with a tippe cover for around 500ish in the exynos 5433 configuration with a) 64gb wifi or b) 32gb 4G.

The z4 tablet with a tippe cover is available for 650chf but wifi 32gb only. The 64gb 4g would coast with tippe cover around 790chf.

The pixel c 64gb and cover will take 820chf.

That's what I have gathered the past few days. The Samsung with exynos 5433 looks like the price/performance winner.
The other to can with 900chf be beaten with a 900chf basic yoga. Android seems for me bit better for NDS emulation or controll making in general if windows emulators don't have touch control.

Yea the tablet and 2 in 1 space is really crowded with lots of half assed or overly expensive options. Even through all my searching on newegg and such im struggling to find something i can recommend, the only decent option ive come across so far is a Dell 2 in 1 for 429USD. its got solid overall specs just no ssd, it has a 1tb hdd. but im sure that wouldnt be to hard to switch out if wanted. if i find anything else worthy of recommending i'll toss a link your way but the options really do suck right now.

If I can't find one of the listed tablets for a super good price, I will wait till mid july. Maybe there will be something new out. I don't hope one Samsung since the just released the tab s2 refresh with the sd652, but maybe sony, huawei or nvidia.

I was wondering where the shield x1 is, since the k1 was fairly popular and good. Wouldn't want a 8" tablet but better than those half baked premium ones.

I looked up the dell inspiron 13 you linked. A SSD is a cheap and good upgrade but here in Switzerland, Dell asks for 650chf for that model and no retailer has it listed.

If i'm lucky, I might get my hands on a z4 tablet with 4G for half the price. Only if i'm lucky.
