4.4 vs 4.9

well 6800k at 4.5ghz beats 6700k at 4.7ghz in some games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4LFSYDwfbw I would assume 4.4 vs 4.8 the 6700k will be ever so slightly better but really you are talking couple fps difference and 4.9ghz is not average for skylake (look at the other forum where most people get 4.7-4.8). If you do any editing/encoding the difference is even bigger. Also depends heavily on the type of game for example cities skylines will benefit way more from more cores and more HT then a game that is not optimized for multi threading and more GPU dependent. So is it worth it for gaming to spend on x99? probably not worth spending the extra cash but the misinformation about 6800k being poor gaming performance vs 6700k is really not true. The two are neck and neck gaming performance wise. One costs more and is worth it if you do things that actually use all 6 cores because that is where you see massive performance improvements as shown in the time differences using after effects, premier pro,etc

For fast and safe oc just set in bios multiplier at 46 or 45 and see which one is stable, everything else can be left at auto. If you want you can set manual voltage and try to stay arround 1.4 max for safety.

So i currently have my 6700k set to 46 at 1.35 volts. I dont game on my computer but a few times a week. But its for a good bit of time those days. Am i safe to pump the voltage up to 1.4 volts? or should i just stick around 1.35?
