Love to repair computers

Thread Starter
Greetings to all. I have been reading some of the posts here for awhile now.

I do not overclock my PCs yet. I am just an old guy who loves computer repair for friends and family. I am humbled and surprised so many times by how end users think about computers, what they know and what they don't know. I learn something on most every fix, and it is usually more about people than it is the technology.

I am A+ certified, and with that and a $5 bill, you might buy a Happy Meal at McDonalds. rolleyes.gif
I find it challenging to keep up with the technology these days.

I am old enough to remember the days before DOS.. The TRS-80, PET, Commodore, and various computers that first came out. Most ROM based proprietary operating systems. My fist computer was a HeathKit H89 that I built from scratch in about 1982. It booted HDOS or CPM from a floppy drive. Everything was slow as molasses in the winter.

My main goal is to always learn more and be better computer technician, to help friends keep their PCs secure and clean, running as fast as they can within the limits of their hardware & OS.

I may not contribute much, if anything. I know there are guys in these forums with a lot more experience and credentials than what I have.

Welcome oldtechie47. There are plenty of 'old techies' here (self included) and 'young techies' as well so you are in good company!
