Okay so...Streamers essentially Stream a game for an audience to watch while interacting with them.

Things like Dark Souls 3 no-hit game...LoL Pros that offer advice to their communities...Dota 2 pros...

Also, you get a first hand look at betas/alphas...Dead by Daylight was/is a big one...

Then there are people that are just entertaining to watch so on and so forth.

Some make a living doing it...Some don't.

I listen to Cohh at work because it's interesting, he's always playing a new game and I can keep it in the top 1/4 of my screen...

Have you ever watched any of the following, after paying money:

Sporting event
Concert
Play
Movie
Stand-up comedy show
Television show

If so, then you're doing what the people who pay streamers are doing. Streaming is a show, for entertainment. The differences between traditional media mostly center around the stream being far more interactive. You can talk to the streamer, and the streamer can talk to you in response. Watching a stream on Twitch is free, and if people like what they see and want to support the streamer so they continue streaming, then they'll give them money. Sometimes this is in the form of individual donations, but more commonly it is in the form of a monthly subscription. It's completely voluntary on the part of the viewer, but enough people do it so that a fair number of streamers actually make enough to turn it into a primary job.

And, then, you do have the strippers - the ones who used to be actually stripping on camgirl sites but found out they could make just as much or more money just exposing some cleavage while playing videogames. Props to them I guess for figuring out a better market.

The biggest and maybe even only issue with paypal is "donation trolling" or a charge back. Basically people donate and then claim the merchandise they purchased was never received, setting along those lines at least. In paypals eyes it's a valid claim and they take the money form their wallet. Without much chance of winning a rebuttal. So this is possibly a more secure way for streamers to collect tips and not have to let the money sit there for months to make sure it's legit

One day, when PayPal takes you from behind, you will understand..

Chargebacks are allowed on virtually every payment processing service, in accordance with consumer protection laws.

How is this any different from begging/panhandling?

A donation is a donation. Period. We're also speaking of a TIP not a donation.

Two very different principles.

Charging back a TIP to anything is bad form.

Because nobody is begging for your donation. You donate freely of your own will.

I'm not asking for your TIP but, if you choose to TIP me, just as you tip your waiter/waitress than, you've appreciated the service I'm offering you.

Because 99% of people would roll their eyes or laugh at you if you told them what you do for work, no matter how much you're making. Personally, I'd never say that I'm a professional video game streamer if I were one. I'd confess to being the Zodiac Killer or an adult film actor before that.

But we already know who the Zodiac Killer is?
