Gaming Rig build help, please. GPU to be added at a later date.

Thread Starter
Hello. I would like to build a gaming rig aimed at 1080p@60Hz/fps, light web design and general use.

I only have a 1080p monitor at 60Hz. I do not plan on upgrading to a higher resolution. I just want to achieve 60 fames per second on high+ settings.

The lower then cost better, but right now without the GPU, $600 or less.

II will be purchasing parts in the United States.

I am looking at a small quite build. I would like a mini-ITX build, but I am open to larger builds if it is cheaper. This is what I am looking at so far:

Cooler Master 130 Elite
Team Delta 8 GB RAM 2400
EVGA 650 watt
ASUS B150I mobo

I already have an SSD, HDD and an OS, so I won't be needing those. I put 8GB of RAM in, just in case you all think I can get away with that amount for a while. I am open to any and all suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

The 130 Elite is a nice case, but limits the height of the CPU cooler to 65mm, which is not good to keep the rig silent.
There are still some choices though: http://www.frostytech.com/top5_lowprofile_heatsinks.cfm

With a volume of 2 more liters, and a slightly smaller footprint, the Thermaltake Core V1 is compatible with CPU coolers up to 140mm.
It is cheaper than the 130 Elite and comes with a bigger front fan (200mm vs 120mm).
It also accepts ATX PSU, with a longer length limitation of 200mm.
One drawback could be the rear 80mm fans that will have to spin slowly in order to stay silent.

8GB of DDR4 should be enough, but at their actual low prices, I would go for 16GB.

650W for the PSU is overkill IMO, 500W would be plenty enough.
A modular one will make the install easier.

As we are at OCN, I would then take a Z170 motherboard, a modded BIOS for BCLK overclocking and raise an i5 non K to 4.4GHz biggrin.gif

- Noctua NH-U9S
- MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC ITX
- BeQuiet! 530W L8 80+ Bronze

A bit higher than $600...
