Surface Tuning..

Does anyone know Exactly what is done during this process ?

What is the sensor/software evaluating.. and what compensations does it make.. ?

Makes the LOD as low as possible for the surface, doesn't work well on several hard surfaces and most likely will cause it to stop tracking completely

Well the LOD would be influenced.. but the question is, what exactly is it doing.. is it lowering illumination of the led ? is it throwing away counts? reducing frame rates ?

for 3366, it changes some thresholds

I don't know anything about that, only the people who work at logitech know what it does. What I do know is if you use it on certain hard materials it will just cause the thing to skip/stop tracking

Contrast settings?

for logitech's 3366 surface tuning, two registers are changed.
one is the minimum squal threshold
other one is a pixel intensity threshhold which affects what counts as a feature or not. < this one potentially affects tracking.

imo there's no reason to do it unless you want stupidly low lod. i've never had a surface for which tracking changed noticeably after surface tuning

Is minimum squal threshold, the minimum speed at which movement is registered ?

pixel intensity.. how does this one work...?

Sorry qsxcv, we are all n00bers next to your greatness.

no, minsqual can only act as a lod cutoff

about the other i know as much as you do

So the squal is a brightness cutoff sort of setting?

How else does it gauge distance. wink.gif
