Raised the vcore another .01, now reading 1.416 in Cpuz. Ran for 10 hours overnight with no failure. Unfortunately the hdd has started clicking with random freezes, so a ssd is in the near future.

So Ssd is in and wow, what a performance boost. Also it looks like the version of prime95 I was using could have been the issue all along. After some research I learned that the newest version of prime95 is geared more toward Intel processors. I downloaded an older version and I'm currently 6 hours @4.5ghz on 1.42 volts.

Okay still having some issues getting prime to pass. Something I did notice is that i can run the small FFT test all day at any clock. Where the problem seems to be is in the blend test. I ran the blend test at stock settings and it failed after about 6 hours. Not really sure what to do at this point. Should i just test only on the small FFT test? Is there some other setting i should be changing?

your almost there. boost vcore to 1.43 and try again. i always use blend for testing clock speed oc.

Should I really run stock clock of 3.5ghz at 1.43v. As I said even default settings fail the blend test

stock speed 3.5, 8gig stick and 1.42v? do me and especially you a favor. download this and run. http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

if it fails that, stick your 2x2 set in and test with mem86. if it passes continue your oc en devours. biggrin.gif

Should have mentioned that I did run memtest with no errors, however that was with all 3 installed at default settings. I'll run it with just the 2x2 and report back.

Also I'm thinking of returning the 8gb stick and getting a 2x4 setup instead

UPDATE: Currently 1h15min @4.2ghz, 1.344v, 43c on the core and 2x2gb RAM. I may be imagining it, but the tests seem to be completing faster than before. Looks like that 8gb stick may have been the culprit after all.

UPDATE 2: Stopped the test at 2hr with no issues. Gonna run some benchmarks and play some games to test it out, then an overnight prime95 test just to be sure Im on the right track. Is it possible the motherboard can only run on dual channel RAM?

I ran prime for 18 hours at 4.2ghz and outscored an fx8150 with passmark so it's looking good so far. I'll keep updating my progress with the overclock.
