[Hexus]AMD Radeon WattMan overclocking tool details leak - Page 12

AMD doesn’t impose any restrictions on its partners in terms of over-volting and overclocking. In fact, the voltage limits that the AIB partners implement in their overclocking tools are voluntary and actually quite easy to remove. All it usually takes is a simple text edit. MSI also allows users to “extend official overclocking limits” in its Afterburner overclocking utility and currently allows voltages of up to 1.3v on 300 series cards. Asus on the other hand permits voltages of 1.35v+ via GPU Tweak.

nVidia can learn a thing or two. So can Intel for that matter.

And with <1ms there is not stutter

just because the response time is <1ms doesn't mean it won't stutter, if that "dynamic clock" coincided at a critical time it'll cause a cascade of delays.
furthermore, whats their assurance that the dynamic clock is 100% accurate, that it wouldn't mistake a major task for a minor task?

1ns sounds fast, but that only 1 cycle for 1 GHz.

Eh, it's AMD who should learn a thing or two.

When they were touting reduced power consumption despite higher clocks on 390 rebrandeons, MSI went ahead and overvolted the hell out of their card and it ended up in most reviews showing power consumption way above a 290X.

How is AMD responsible for that?

Look at what nVidia does - forced locked down/ conservative voltage. Power restrictions, etc.
