[VC] First RX 480 benchmarks hit the web - Page 31

Hmmm, now I'm starting to see why AMD priced these cards so low and Nvidia priced theirs so high.

because they're priced in the performance range of cards they're replacing(R9 380)?

Because nvidia is king of the GPU market right now. They can charge what they want because they have no real competition.

AMD is the underdog. They need every competitive advantage they can get to put thehurt on nvidia. Pricing the 480 at $200 achieves both those requirements. Helps that its cheaper to make and that the 8GB model is $30 more expensive to boot. AMD cant afford to overcharge for their GPUs.

Yup. Nvidia knows AMD new cards wont come near so they charge whatever people are willing t pay for the fastest cards.
AMD know their cards doesnt perform even remotely close to GTX 1070 so they have to charge max $250

AMD should have gone for Vega out first to get sales in the high end section and to keep up as the fastest alternatives instead of dropping out of the high end segment like they did with CPUs.

There is absolutely nothing interesting about a GTX 970 tier card. Nothing. We had that for several years now

Or a normal person would say that they are a different market?

Only the idiot Kyle claims that

Thats the whole point.
There is nothing "revolutionary" about RX 480. Atleast not performance wise.

Id agree with the revolution marketing if it was faster than 390X
