[VC] First RX 480 benchmarks hit the web - Page 35

The article is fake. Improper listing of FSE for all 3 comparison bars. And the fact that a 2048 sp sku is somehow faster than a 2304 sku that is clocked higher in several benchmarks is pure bogus. Please use your heads people.

480 doesn't technically have to beat the GTX 970 or 980. As long as it can handle itself in 1080p and 1440p with reduced graphics as well as in a really good price point, it will fly off the shelves.

Everyone wants to buy a Bugatti for the price of a civic.

Depends what you mean by "handle itself in 1440p" having had a 780/980 and 980ti at 1440p I can personally say that the 980 did not handle itself well at all at 1440p most games I have to turn down many settings to achieve 60 and a few games I still could not hit 60 with settings turned down.

This is a 1080p card, unless you are buying the card for something like overwatch. But for overwatch it would be better to go 1080 144hz than just 60hz at 1440p imo, or best of both worlds wink.gif

by 2k you mean 1440p ? if so then maybe, but I would never even consider running 1440p + 970 + a demanding game at max settings

to me 970 is explicitly a 1080p card

havent seen anything for those 0.5GB to matter @ 1080p

Exactly, too good to be true lol

Not sure why they would suddenly give Fury X performance for for $250 but hey one can dream I guess.

Not exactly based on nothing... I mean...

We knew all along they were targeting the GTX 970/980 performance bracket, so it wasn't ALL THAT CRAZY to think a heavily OCed SKU would match it up against their own Fury X card, which means not exactly GTX 980 Ti performance, but close enough.

But the more I read, the more that goes out the window.

Hardware unboxed had the card running Overwatch at 4K at max settings. Though the video was sped up, so you couldn't really see if it was smooth or not, or what frames he was getting.

We'll only have to wait another day before we get more definitive answers. Right now, people are doubting whether or not any of the leaked performance results are using the proper drivers. Should it be the case that they're not, then it's actually a pretty good indication that the card will perform at around 980 levels at stock.

4k for overwatch at max is still a heavy enough hitter - says my oc'ed 290x.
