Please do not question him, he is a financial and gpu market genius that is thinking on another level we could only hope to reach.

Thats assuming $50 depreciation is even right, its a highball honestly.

He traded -20% performance for ~6-9 months for $50-$100 and being able to use more features on his existing monitor.

I dont understand the salt, I guess. Its been a long time, and people are mad, still. When they are trying to play a game that just plain requires a better card, they complain about what they bought.

I never got a refund or even a response from Gigabyte or Nvidia when I emailed them regarding the 3.5gb bs.

I dont drink Nvidia kool-aid so yeah as a consumer I am pissed about the whole situation. Since you dont understand my take is you dont care if you are lied to? Sounds to me like you are the perfect consumer, lie to your face and you take it with a smile then come back for more.

I was pissed too when I found out about the 3.5gb vram fiasco on my first gtx 970 (Galax gtx 970 exoc which I bought close to launch) But it didn't stop me from getting a second gtx 970 for my current build when I moved here in the US. never experienced any issues with my first gtx 970. saw one on ebay really cheap didn't hesitate to get it. was a great card at 1440p 144hz and performed admirably in games that I played. was able to hold me off till the 1080 launch thumb.gif

1304MHz are stock? Good to know.

I bet nvidia won't give us a 1060 matching stock 980 for $200. there's still doubts whether RX480 can prove a match for 980 in all games though, or will it be inconsistent in performance. Plus, if GTX 970 can bridge up the performance gap to a 14nm card based on new architecture that's a big downer.

I'd greet these with scepticism, but lol if it's slower than 290

This time AMD released their mid-range first so they'll have certain advantage in pricing. Who knows.

970s have been dropping like crazy though. Max budget of 250€ on Geizhals.eu gives a nice range of options now.

They had choice of showing more than one extremely misleading benchmark.

Nvidia at least showed Witcher 3 and Tomb Rider in addition to pointless VR graph.

Uh, no.

At 1266, it is 3% slower than a 1440 MHz clocked 970 (which performs better than a 980 by the way)

So at stock, the 480 performs about as well as a stock 980. Though the 980 will clock circles around the 480.
