I also have a gigabyte g1 card. gtx 980 fire strike scores seems unreachable to me. it came really close but I never surpassed it. It's funny how a lot of people are saying an overclocked 970 = 980. it's not even easy to reach 1550mhz with a 970

XFX have the black edition at 1328Mhz out of the box, so I find it unlikely that it can't hit 1.4Ghz easily unless there is a deliberate limiting factor.

You should get it checked out. Overclocked 970 matching 980 is one of the main reasons why there is way less value proposition in 1070 which doesn't even come close to 1080 when overclocked.

That's what created all of the initial hype, for me anyways.

Knew AMD being overly hush wasn't a good sign.

Reviews aren't out, nobody knows true performance.

There's only one listing of the RX 480 in Amazon and people have already reviewed it ... pretty sure none of them have it tho lol!

Artifacts after 5% overclock? Freezing by 7%?
How come no one finds that suspicious ?

If that were the case, AMD would have completely blocked the overclock feature, instead of releasing WattMan specifically for this gpu.

They obviously have driver problems, or some other problem.
A lot of people said that they don't have the NDA driver and the one they can use is buggy.
I think it's a way to control leaks, AMD probably shipped the driver that truly supports the 480 only to trusted reviewers which obviously won't leak anything.

I don't think the driver has even been shipped, it would likely be released a few hours before the NDA via email or such method to the reviewers.

LOL at all the people chiming in to make sure they register their disappointment. We don't even have solid data yet! How can you be disappointed in the non-existent? And the cherry-picking of a couple of hypemeisters to denigrate anybody who commented positively about the RX 480 is hilarious.  Do you also punch children and small animals for failure to excel in high-powered executive jobs? The 480 is a 380 replacement. Anything beyond 390 performance meets the minimum requirements for a new card. 980ish performance (which it will most likely have) makes it a very nice value.

Oh, and I don't even know what to say about the 'leaked benchmarks' in the OP. 'Take everything with a grain of salt unless it makes an AMD product look ridiculously bad' seems to be the SOP for a certain sub-section of posters.
