Urgent help needed. Someone has used my ip address...

Hello,
Yesterday i came to know that my friend was hacked (email password resets and other stuff). She got the help from cyber security. and my ip address showed up along with my provider. I am at a loss as how could this happen. I did spy on her account once before but this time i dont know what happened. They are registering a case, to find the culprit but at the moment i am the culprit as per records.
Please help me.
Also someone created a fake profile on fb and posted some pictures of her and that blame is on me too. I dont know if facebook provides with location and ip address info or last used on info. Is there any way to know even with legal help as to who created the profile?

Please help in anyway u can. Share some insights on network and security. sad-smiley-002.gif

What country are you in?

If you are in the US then an IP address is not legally equivalent to a person.

I stay in India. I met the person who pulled logs of my pc and logs from facebook and gmail of victims computer. It showed my ip information and others. Have mutually settled about the hack without involving police.
In the future what should i do to avoid such things. I fear even now my website logs and pc activities are being monitored.

I would like an help in securing and setting up network connections. I know its not an easy job to do but even a little knowledge about it will help in some way or the other.

Stop spying on other people would be step number one.

" pulled logs of my pc and logs from facebook and gmail of victims computer." doesnt make any sense, they wouldnt have access to gmail logs, nor facebook logs, it sounds like you've been duped . . .

Sounds like to me that they got into your router, hence they're traffic appears to be coming from Your IP. Best case scenario is you still have LOG's in your router but if you are like 90% of people, you never enabled the logs in the first place also if they are smart enough to get into your router, they probably removed the logs.

Do you use WEP on your router by some chance? If so, then thats virtually no security. If you are using WPA and a not so great password, thats also very easy to get by, but in order to do either they had to be remotely close to you.

Also do you have a smart phone? If you were physically not at your house, then your Phone records will show it, there's your free papers.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Added spacing so easier to read.

You ask them what proof they have, when they point to a IP, change yours and ask them again, if they say they got into your router or your PC and sue their asses,

Just dont do anything shadey, and your fine, computer crime is very hard to prosecute, even more so if your doing nothing wrong
