[VC]GTX 1060 spotted in Hong Kong - Page 14

1070 has 38% less sp than Titan X and 33% less ROPs, with 1760MHz avg. clock in games which is 53% over Titan X.
1060 will have exactly the same 38% sp deficit to 980, but only 25% less ROPs. 980 runs at 1253MHz in game, so 1060 would have to boost to 1900MHz to achieve the same 53% advantage as 1070 has over TX.

However, 1070 has worse mem bandwidth than TX, while 1060 might more or less equal 980 if they use 8GHz DDR5 on 192-bit.

The question is whether 1060 needs that 1900MHz clock to equal 980. 1070 does cause it has much worse ROP/bandwidth ratio than Titan X, 1060 will look better in that respect if compared to 980.

My official prediction is 1060 is gonna equal or slightly beat reference 980. It's gonna beat RX 480 in majority of games too since reference 980 is 10% faster than RX 480.
I say techpowerup will show it 15% faster than RX 480 on 1920x1080 overall performance chart, and the card is gonna show major power/performance advantage over RX 480, say around 1.6X

edit: lol, I missed the post above, and it does say 15% over RX 480

Love the scaling on that chart. Makes 20% advantage look like 100% advantage. rolleyes.gif

still, not even close to AMD's level
the one Raja showed made a 1.6x performance/watt increase look like 2.8x

I bet a lot of ppl are gonna regret not waiting for 1060 and jumping on RX480 too soon.

yeah well at least it will be power efficient and wont destroy your mobo by overloading PCIE slot.

maybe nvidia should do "PCIE specification means PCIE specification", like amd did "4GB means 4GB" biggrin.gif

well,without all the sarcasm now....

GTX 1060 is gonna be faster, quieter and cooler than RX 480. With RX480 launching at 300 euros in EU I think 1060 will be a much better buy overall

300 euro launch is not happening.

Expect 350 euro at least.

No, €265 for 8GB and €228 for 4GB - and they are selling like hotcakes.
