AMD aren't putting cards out for the sake of humanity. And if you want reduced prices on the nvidia, people should stop buying them at the high price. Power to the people, not giving power to corporate X because you hate corporate Y.

Do you only recommend nintendo because they are the small ones compared to PS/xbox?
Did you buy a AMD CPU because intel are just too big?

Stop being so hypocritical.

You should buy the cards according to your money and performance you are after and the added features you are looking for. Not because one is a smaller corporation. You are acting like AMD are working out of their mom's garage making GPUs out of paper clips. They are still a multi billion corporation which should take itself seriously and stop making big mistakes. They don't deserve our sympathy if they screw up, the same nvidia aren't getting any sympathy if they screw up.

AMD are not david. They are not defending their people against an invading army. That is one of the worst analogy you can put out, and you have put out a whole lot of bad analogies lately.
At best AMD are like the arabs army conquering israel, and then are defending themselves now against the crusaders who come to conquer jerusalem. And we know how that ended up.

I have to agree, AMD is a small guy here, and Nv has significantly more resources to spare, so their R&D capabilities are less limited. But that, IMO means that AMD needs to be really careful and thorough with their new products as their smaller size makes them more vulnerable to any type of failure. On the other hand, I don't believe that as potential buyers, we should somehow favor failures of one company over the other. The best position here is do research and let competition sort things out. In the end both companies want your money and neither is a charity.

480 is a nice little card with a ton of performance for the money, but IMO it could be a lot better if it was more efficient and if reference design didn't have infamous power issue. Now, we still don't know for sure how much of an issue that is, time will show, but if there is indeed a design flaw in play, then no one but AMD is responsible for it. And it's just silly to blame it on anyone else. Under that scenario, It may still work out if AIB cards turn out great, but AMD better make a lesson out of this and deliver a more polished product next time.

I tend to believe that 1060 has been ready for some time now. Nvidia were simply waiting to see how good RX 480 is. There wasn't much of a point for them to release it earlier as what's the point to release new tech when old tech still sells well? Now, when 480 is out and sells like hotcakes and very few people want 2+ old cards for the same price, nvidia has to strike back with a faster card so they end up with a better product that can be priced higher.

AMD spent 0.9B$ in 2015 vs nvidia which spend 1.33B$.
In 2014 AMD spent 1.1B$ vs nvidia 1.36B$, and 1.2B$ in 2013 vs nvidia's 1.34B$.
Those are taken from both financial numbers, not just made up.

While AMD spends on both APUs, CPUs, GPUs, nvidia have been spending on GPUs, SoCs, robotics (yup), grid.

But that doesn't really tell us a lot. AMD might spend another 0.3B$ yet it might have actually affect GPUs, or the majority isn't even spend on this years GPUs and they are more spending on CPUs or computes. We don't really know how they are diverting or needing to spend.

Then AIB 980 Ti's got released and boy did they take the enthusiast segment by storm. Now I'm NOT saying AIB 480s will do what AIB 980 Ti's did, but I think it's fair to reserve final judgement until we have the full picture of what P10 can and can't do.

Oh no, no, no, no. You must make a snap, knee-jerk judgement of the entire range of all RX 480's based solely on the performance of the reference card on the day it is launched! Whatever improvements made by the AIB cards or later driver releases will be irrelevant whenever any Nvidia fanboys discuss the card from now unti the end of time. Don't you know how the game works?

This card will have to contend with the AIB 480's, I would just ignore the reference card reviews when comparing these two cards especially if the reference 1060 cost more than non-reference 480's.

Unfortunately none of these "usual suspect" tech sites will even bother to test the AIB 480s I would bet. At least in direct comparisons with Nvidia cards.

Not content with completely missing the intent of his post, you then wrote one of the most rambling, incoherent, and bias-driven screeds I've ever seen.

You can't see it but I'm giving you a slow-clap right now. Well done, mate. 5/7.
