System Shock is a complete remake of the genre defining classic from 1994, rebuilt from the ground up with the Unity Engine.

System Shock was one of the first 3D games that took a methodical approach to exploration while revealing a story driven narrative through audio logs and messages scattered throughout the game world. It was a revolutionary step forward for the medium in a time when developers first began experimenting with interactive story telling.

Players were trapped aboard Citadel Station as they fought to survive against the cyborgs and mutated crew members corrupted by a maniacal A.I. known as SHODAN, one of the most treacherous antagonists ever conceived. System Shock offered an unparalleled experience that would solidify it as one of the greatest games of all time.

Looking good. Maybe you remember that video from some time ago about a System Shock Remake which looked quite spectacular...

NOW THERE'S A DEMO. AN ACTUAL PUBLIC, DOWNLOADABLE BEFORE GAME RELEASE LIKE RIGHT NOW DEMO. ON STEAM, HUMBLE BUNDLE AND GOG.

On the Kickstarter Page you'll find the download links and all the info to start waving goodbye to your hard earned credit chips. biggrin.gif

Chris Avellone(Wasteland 2, Planescape:Torment, Icewind Dale, lots of etc) is on board. thumb.gif

Managed to grab a pair of screenshot before dine.

Okay, it ticks all the right boxes. Had a crash to desktop but hey, it's a pre-alpha. Grahics are neat, illumination is good, effects are good, art direction is spot on. Really digging that HQ pixellated style on buttons and some parts. Inventory is right there where it should be, RMB activates contextual info & prompts, puzzles and codes are so far in-game, meaning you get to click buttons on numpads directly, kudos for inmersion. It's chilling, just like the original. I was playing with pro headphones and was totally taken by the athmosphere. Had a couple of scares in just 5 minutes. Believe me, this remake is going to make you as paranoid as the original System Shock

I never played the original games (Have them on Steam but just can't get into it, to old and clunky) but I enjoyed the short demo. It's made me want to try more first person sci fi games. Can any of you guys recommend any good ones?

Performance wise the demo didn't run to great for me but hey it's pre alpha. I run i7 and a 7970 GPU so I'm surprised I had such issues there. Regardless like I said I enjoyed the demo a good bit. I liked the atmosphere a lot smile.gif

Put some mods into the originals and play them. The System Shock Enhanced Edition is a good start, has some goodies already there, and it's made by the same studio, Nightdive. They're just as good, if not better than when both launched. They really deserve to be played, both are masterpieces despite graphics and controls.

Alien:Isolation is very good too. Current generation game, good graphics, very atmospheric. Put SOMA also on the basket and you're set with those four for a very long, terrifying and fun time. biggrin.gif

Looks a little bit better than the Ultima Underworld engine the original version ran on. Looking forward to this release very much. I already gave them some money.

system shock was a bad game by modern standards,... to remake it --the way it was, would be stepping backwards.. hahaha.. biggrin.gif
