[Reddit] RX 480 fails PCI-E specification - Page 90

Considering all the noise, that the whole "AMD in violation of PCIe specs" gathered, I will not be surprised if AMD even gets (or waits) for a response or some statement from PCI-SIG.

Not expecting it, but will not be surprised either - there's too much at stake here. Not to mention, that most of us have seen how media can bring down Governments..., AMD has to play smart and not rush things.

What I think is that AMD still hasn't provided a fix yet because it is really hard to fix hardware problem built into engineering schematics of the board.

If they don't give any official response today then most likely it's a big problem they don't know how to solve so fast or they want to silence it or both. And if that happens I surely ain't gonna buy ref 470 as I planned before I opened my eyes on how much nvidiish this amd is.

You can decrease WattMan power level by 20%, we have in house users that say it worked.

The Stilt has done a marvelous job of creating a temporary fix, which shows you that the power load is controllable and an official fix trough the driver updates is possible.
A temporary fix for the excess PCI-E slot power draw for the reference RX 480 cards

It's 6pm MT/8pmET where is a statement from AMD on this issue, they had a 3 day weekend to sort it out?  I had such hopes for this card and now I am sitting on the sideline waiting for some facts or the 1060 reveal.  Whether the card has serious issue or not, AMD's PR department does not appear to be engaged in any meaningful way, it's hard not to jump to conclusions that the card could be flawed.

Well those of you who exclaimed this was an "unfixable hardware issue", I hope you enjoy crow.

Except he is kinda making up his own spec there. The data sheets still state a 1.1A limit regardless of what he claims.
