980Ti or a 1080 GTX ?

What offers more, not only in performance but DX 12 support also ?

Definitely 1080.

NV may or may not care about Maxwell in future drivers. They will care about Pascal untill next gen.

Even today, the 1080 is faster at stock, faster OCed, has lower power draw and comes with more VRAM. Really don't see a downside unless you have a 980Ti offered at a much lower price.

I'm seeing them for ~ 400 brand new
