Need help to decide on a new rig for gaming and livestreaming (maybe youtube)

Hello everybody!

As you can see in the title I would need some advice because all these benchmarks and reviews are driving me insane!
Basically I want to get a new custom built rig and it will be used for livestreaming, gaming all sorts of games including system taxing ones and possibly youtube I would want to start out that goes a long with the streaming. I do not really have a budget. My pc when I bought it was also the latest parts that were out and it was quite expensive. I've been thinking of selling my parts and buying new ones but my hopes are low to get any decent money from my current system. Here are my current system specs and hardware (which I also want to upgrade):

Processor: Intel I7 3770k
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Z77A-GD65
RAM: 16 GB
SSD: Samsung 830 series (238 GB)
HDD: 2x Samsung HD103SJ (1 TB)
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 680 (2 GB VRAM)
PSU: Corsair AX 850
OS: Windows 7 64 bit (Home)
Case: Corsair 600T Black

Mouse: Razer Naga
Mousemat: Steelseries QCK+
Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
Headset: Astro A40 + MixAmp
Webcam: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920

Monitor: Phillips 248C3LH

As you can see my system might be a little outdated, especially the GPU compared to todays standards. I would like to resume 1080p/1440p gaming as 4k gaming right now seems (my personal opinion) too expensive and not worth the money really, as far as I read not that many games support 4k. Anyways, I was thinking about having a system with nice LED lights to go along with my keyboard etc which is why i was thinking of buying razer chroma so I can change colors to my liking. I'm also thinking of getting a seperate mic (Blue Yeti) with a few components like a shock mount and or pop filter.

Leave your system spec suggestions below, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I might ask why you made that decision as I'd like to see the reasoning behind the decisions so it will help my pc knowledge out a bit. smile.gif

Thank you guys in advance! <3

There is almost zero reason to upgrade your CPU RAM and motherboard unless you need more cores
Upgrading to a new CPU is not going to be all that much better or faster

Keep your old CPU RAM and motherboard and get a new video card instead
Even a second hand GTX 970 would be an upgrade from an old GTX 680

You could also get a bigger SSD so you can have your games on an SSD instead of an HDD.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply

Sounds nice and true I dont think it NEEDS an upgrade for gaming, but what about livestreaming and for youtube? Concerning games, I save most on my HDD that does not benefit from quick loading times, games like my modded Skyrim is on my ssd for example. The main point for me is for me to be future proof... I see like RAM DDR4 being new (for me because I didnt check hardware in a while).
The GPU needs to be good enough to run my Skyrim which is 50gb big with mods (500+ mods) and ARK and Witcher 3 all on highest settings (on either 1080p or 1440p not sure yet if it's really worth upgrading to 1440p or 4k for that matter). Right now it gets to high temperatures and everything.
Bottom line, for me I'd like my system to be future proof, that being said, are you sure a new motherboard and cpu is needed? I also am aiming for a rig that is a "beast", like a pc with LED lights inside. Lately I've been looking at the GTX 1080 STRIX, what are your thoughts?
Sorry if I kind of went against your response but I want you to understand my perspectives and thoughts too before I decide anything. smile.gif

Just buy a new GPU, nothing else.
