Intense rendering / VR development build

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm looking at building a system that's dedicated for rendering (Revit & Lumion) and development for VR (Unity).
Here's the list I've come up with:
  • CPU: i5 6600K
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (and extra fan for push/pull)
  • Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz
  • GFX Card: EVGA GTX 1070 Founders Edition 8GB
  • SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
  • HDD: WD Black 1TB
  • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650w 80+ Gold Fully Modular
  • Case: Fractal Design Define S with Window
  • Optical Drive: LG 8x DVD External USB
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 bit

Provided I will be rendering complex scenes etc, will bumping up to a 6700k make a large difference?
Also considering I won't be multi-tasking heavily on the system, I assume 16GB RAM would be enough? Or should I get 32GB (Slower speed)?

Please advise if you have any recommendations!

Budget wise, this is a company funded system, so I do need to be cost aware, this system is approx $2500 AUD.

Cheers!
Gaming build!

For rendering like that the 6600k wont be noticeably slower at all, it is more visibly slower with video rendering like adobe and such, and for unity there is virtually no difference aswell. As for ram, 16gb will do just fine, depends on the renders, really big renders love ram and 32gb would give it alot of overhead but really 16gb will run you just fine. ( i have only ever done AutoCAD rendering so idk how those programs run specifically but there arent too many differences i would think ) Hope this helps.
