Noob questions

Alright so to start off, i dont have anything yet. I am the process of planning. so here we go.

i am gonna get a thermaltake wp100, i will have in it is a gigabyte z97x g1 wifi blk, i7 4790k, corsair dominator gt 2133 16gb ram, for now gtx 970 but later either 2 1080 or when the 1080ti come out 2 of those, a evga 1300w power supply, 240gb and 480gb pny ssd. my plan is, i know its a overkill, but i okay with that. but i wanna rock 2 560mm rads, alphacool st30, a switchtech d5 pump the performance pc edition one, ek full nickle cpu, ek full nickle gpu blocks, ek dom ram nickle block.

so my question to you is, what fans would be a great set for the st30, for super quiet and performance, for having the i7 overclocked to roughly 4.5 and my ram overclocked cause yolo, and my gpus over clocked?

what i have come up with is the noctua nf-a14, akasa viper 14cm, phantek ph-f140hp, and ek vadar, these will be in push pull config, and they will be controlled. i would love your guys input and knowledge as for i am new into this stuff :3

You'll never need 1300w, that's easily 3 computers worth of power combined. Wait for Shilka to recommend a PSU. Noctua fans are top notch, 900D might be better than that thermaltake, take a look or at it, or the Enthoo Primo.

Edit: Or instead of NOCTUA, get Scythe.

Well I used the Calculator online for the psu. And it recommended for that size with the over clocks for cup and gpu. Can the 900d fit 2 560? I was gonna do some work on the thermaltake, to make it better in my opinion. I love the primo but I love the case lab wanna be, I could just save up more and go for the caselab but I dont know x)

So the question is what fans? With only 4 components? AND 2x560 rads?

Any you want!

You have enough rad space that you will reach diminishing returns and any fan even at the lowest RPM will give you plenty of performance. For lowest possible RPM's and most energy efficient with that many fans I would use PWM though.

EDIT: I should add that the Gentle Typhoons usually get the nod for the queitest at really low RPM's, but Vardars can be too, however people tend to get a quirky one every now and then that chirps or hums. Some people seem to be more sensitive to the Vardars acoustics for some reason.

EDIT2: Your not gaining anything by water cooling the RAM except looks. It just adds unnecessary restriction to the loop.

with that many rads/fans it'll cool no matter what fan you use.

Id suggest going with what pleases you athletically.

But if you need the best....

Gentle Typhoons FTW all day!!! thumb.gif
