RX 480 overclock discussion - Page 2

I'm at 1100 mv 1350/2200 all stock blower fan cooler... it'll run higher.. I've had it at 1360/2250 but it started bouncing on the thermal limit, and I had to back it off... I might try an undervolt..

Going to adapt an old heatpipe cooler with dual fan setup I have onto the 480. Its off an older card but think it might actually be a bolt on. I might have to trim the front shroud back but its going to be a close fit.. I should have time to mess with it later this week.

9403 with AMD Radeon RX 480(1x) and AMD FX-8350
Graphics Score 13 956

Yeah it does, it's pretty old for a processor anything from it's date bottlenecks the GPU.

yep.. it does...

if you go look at results in 3dmark all the top end scores are intel based rigs.. a lot of it has to do with the physics score bumping up the overall score, but its also the same looking at the graphics score.

I ran a test on my overclocked 390 and found some interesting results based on danjal's Firestrike run: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13091400.

My Firestrike run: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13106187?

RX 480 Delta R9 390

Stream Processors 2304 256 2560

Core Freq. in MHz 1360 200 1160

Firestrike 1.1 score 13956 28 13928

The 390 as 11.1% more Stream Processors, but a 14.7% lower clock speed to get the same approximate score. While the 480 has 10% less SPs and has a 17.2% higher clock rate with a negligible score difference. Of course this is only a synthetic benchmark and may not directly translate over in-game.

My normal 24/7 settings : http://i.imgur.com/0blwXYu.png

"Normal" firemark using the beta drivers: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9257671
I forgot to check for the temp on that, but it pulled roughly 135watts, shouldn't have gone much past 65C.

Then I overclocked it some more to 1350/2250 at 1150mV/1000mv and +20% power for this result: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9257760.
It sucked down 167watts and capped out at 70C

With the older fx8300 and 8350scores against the I7-4790k being posted you can see the amd cpu are really struggling.

I agree, however I cracked 10k for the first time; http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9258776

Based on this (only complete chart I could find) http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2015-vga-charts/01-3DMark-FireStrike,3664.html I scored higher than all but 1 980 bench. I'm sure with a better cpu/mobo I could hit 15k gfx score easily.
