"Normal" firemark using the beta drivers: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9257671
I forgot to check for the temp on that, but it pulled roughly 135watts, shouldn't have gone much past 65C.

Then I overclocked it some more to 1350/2250 at 1150mV/1000mv and +20% power for this result: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9257760.
It sucked down 167watts and capped out at 70C

Based on this (only complete chart I could find) http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2015-vga-charts/01-3DMark-FireStrike,3664.html I scored higher than all but 1 980 bench. I'm sure with a better cpu/mobo I could hit 15k gfx score easily.

I see many 970's and 980's with 15k+

It wasn't intended to replace the upper 200/300 series. It's a midrange card. This is all utilizing reference models on early drivers. Jesus. I'm also using a far inferior cpu/mobo as well. I'd easily be in the 15k+ range with your setup.

I'd consider it if the AIB cards can push 1400+ with no sweat

but I got tired of waiting

I look forward to when I am off to push the card even more. Pretty sure I'll be able to get even closer to the 290x. But then the 480x already runs at a much lower TDP and total watts then the 290x which... is nice as well very close performance.

What where you clock / mem clock on that 290x?

my 480 runs hotter than my old msi 290, the 480 does draw less power.

The 480 runs about the same as the 290 from a performance standpoint.. I could hit the limit of my fx8350@4.5ghz with both cards.

Something tells me these rx480's wont live a long life either.

I don't care about power draw. That's wack

My clocks were 1200/1500 I believe. I'd love to get a 480 or 2 if I can get 1400+ no sweat. But really I want a worthwhile upgrade, and I'm not paying $700 for a mid range gpu like the 1080
