But a 4gb furyx is fine right guys? Amiright?

3gb is fine for 1080p, which this card is for.
This is a cheap low end card. People need to stop expecting 200-300 cards be perfect for 4k/1440p

This launch should be somewhat exciting.

But first NVIDIA needs to solve the horrible DPC Latancy issues, micro-stuttering and low performance that's affecting a lot of Pascal buyers.

Now now, you know good and well that a 4GB $199 card or 8GB $239 card is not a very good value. It would be much better to pay 50% or 37% more for 3GB/6GB and ~10% more(less in DX12) performance and the pride of being a Founder! thumb.gif

dont really care about power consumption. The price is really what I care.

I hope is not above $250.

If it is 120w-130w TDP, I might be able to run SLI within 650w spec. (buy 1 now, buy another 1-2yr later)

But, but, the RX 480 has 8GB's. It must be good enough for 4k! rolleyes.gif

3gb is not fine for 1080p at this level of performance. 4GB is good up to 1440p in pretty much all cases. 4GB is good enough for 4k in many situations, though it is right on the limit.

Frame buffer size is not a huge impact on memory usage. Textures and compute buffers are.

you don't need to get which benchmarks they're using.

just get the GTX1070 results and scale it down based on power consumption.
GTX1070 is 150W at typical gaming load, and GTX1060 is presumably 120W.
so thats 120/150 = 0.8*Perf

151% * 0.8 = 121%
that literally translates 121% average performance.

I am completely serious.

Who's to say they didn't only test content that only uses Gameworks or DX11 to get those results? Or if they used one game to get those results. I'm not denying the GTX 1060 is going to be more powerful than the RX480. I'm just pointing out the graph that is in the source is terrible. It's worse than the graphs that AMD used to show 2x RX480s are "better" than a single GTX 1080. Those graphs at least said how they got the results.

I'm not denying the GTX 1060 is more power efficient. I just want to know what tests were done to get that specific results. If they just said "The GTX 1060 is more power efficient than the RX480" then it wouldn't be an issue, but they figures for it, which means tests were done but they aren't revealing what tests were done.

This is assuming that graph isn't made up by Videocardz to get ad revenue.

Well one thing is for sure, Dont expect to be paying £200 or less for this no matter how close it is to 480 performance, and that would be for the 3GB model too, Im seeing the 480 at £220 for 8GB

The 1060 has 66% of 1070 shaders
75% of 1070 memory interface
probably 50% of ROPs

let it be 70% as fast as a 1070 and you'll get a R9 390/RX 480 (ref. numbers computerbase.de)

Don't think it was before my time, but most likely before I quit drinking. I didn't really care for much in the way of tech back then.
