Reviews held back just like the 480. Means it's just as disappointing, and costs more.

In shops start of autumn biggrin.gif And probably as seen with Flounder/Fanboy Edition on 10x0s so far there are almost none sold at the actual nonFE MSRP especially not 1070s, cheapest is like +40 USD from what Nvidia set as the MSRP for AIBs.

Maybe they want to avoid getting labelled a "paper launch" again. wink.gif

But yeah we already know the price will be higher, so won't be any surprises there.

i think 4k shader vega gpu will be -/+ 5% of 1080 stock. considering they fix all the bottlenecks.

I apologize for being OT...

This simply isn't true.

For reference 1308/1700 R9 390 from hwbot vs der8auer RX 480 @ 1480/2250 (both with tess mod)

http://hwbot.org/submission/3035224_otaner_3dmark___fire_strike_radeon_r9_390_15284_marks
_________

RX 480 pts/shader = 16612/2304 = 7.21

R9 390 pts/shader = 16815/2560 = 6.57

RX 480 clock speed advantage = (1480*100)/1308 = 13%

R9 390 Bwidth advantage = (435.2*100)/(288*1.35) = 12%

R9 390 pts/shader w/Bwidth reduc. = 6.57 * 0.88 = 5.78

RX 480 pts/shader w/clk adv. reduc. = 7.21 * 0.87 = 6.27

pts/shader increase RX 480/R9 390 = (6.27*100)/ 5.78 = 8.5%

Not to mention having half the rops and less tmus, I'm honestly surprised they got that much out of another GCN revision considering the seriously cut down hardware specs versus an R9 390.
_________

Back on topic... really Nvidia another FE for what should be a entry-low mid GPU! I'm expecting most reference samples to boost above their stated values, upwards of high 1700's a little bit over 1800, there isn't going to be much left in the tank to beat out a 980 if the 1070/1080 are anything to judge by.

Synthetic bench =/= actual game performance. just look at tpu benchmark chart. heck it's 4% behind 390x on 1080p with 1% less tflops. (and that's what i was comparing)

rop/rbe/bw bottleneck is irrelevant because that's not how you calculate progress. end results are what that matters otherwise we won't ever get more performance if they keep bottlenecking it somewhere. and looking at perf/tflops it regressed compared to 290/390. but gained 10% compared to furyx.

So you're saying that while having 20% less shaders, HALF the ROPs, less TMU's, a smaller bus and less bandwidth, a RX480 performing 4% behind in 1 gaming benchmark doesn't have any form of IPC gain?! Please rethink what you wrote. What was that common saying going around lately with all the new GPU releases... "TFlops =/= gaming performance"....
