Should be the 19th, according to pcper iirc.

Biggest problem for me is lack of SLI support, I would totally buy a 1060 and then another one later to get high performance at a lower entry cost.

Thx, rep++. I'm not able to SLI since I have an ITX board and ITX build...so it'd be perfect for me. I'm definitely interested if the price is right. I can maybe squeeze out $200 for my 970 when I get it back and maybe pick up a 1060 for an extra $50-75????

GTX 970 21% faster than RX480 on i3 4170 3.7GHz in CPU bound scenarios

sorry for the google translation, but you get the idea...

the author says he'll repeat the tests on 1060 as soon as NDA is lifted

edit: I remembered our yesterday's "discussion" (in rx480 thread) on how Skylake i5 with DDR4 is very affordable for every RX480 buyer, so I decided to comapre both on a high-end CPU. Turns out that even if we compare GTX970 and RX480 both on i7 4790K 4.5GHz, RX480 is slower in CPU bound parts of games. 3% slower on avg. including dx12 Hitman, 8% on avg. including dx11 games only.

Thanks for sharing the link. I wish more review sites tested this and made a big deal out of it, maybe AMD would actually do something. "Just deal with our terrible DX11 drivers until your favorite games magically become DX12 and Vulkan aware or purchase Nvidia instead" is not a smart attitude to have when your market share is abysmal.

1060 is not going to be much faster than a 970, you should save up for a 1070 if you want a real upgrade.

yeah the biggest meh is the no SLI support. I needed to get 2 GPU for 2 computers & SLI them on one of the computer in future.

BAM, here comes GTX 1060 out of the blue to challenge RX 480.
The card got like a week or two alone.

AMD need money badly to be able to survive, meaning being able to develop chips for all segments, low, midrange and high end, at the same time. One can also start to wonder why the HUGE efficiency lead of Pascal. Where does it come from? The architecture or 16nm?

Now that the 1060 has launched, AMD is in big trouble right? I mean, the 1060 stomps the 480 for same price and AMD had 2 weeks to try to sell 480's. The truckloads of 480's selling about as fast as they ship has now ended, the new king of mainstream and value is here. Poor AMD, just 2 weeks and squashed.

Man those 1060's are selling by the millions already, AMD is done for...

Oh wait... rolleyes.gif

Bit offtopic but as a 1080p gamer, is 1060 enough for maxing everything such as GTA, upcoming Watchdogs 2 etc. or do i need a 1070?

No you don't "need' it for that, but if you keep your GPUs around for a few years (or more) it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yeah this is the first time upgrading since 660ti, I keep them for a long time. I was just curious if 1060 can handle everything easily at 1080p and the 1070 being more for 1440p etc.

All my years I've always used medium settings etc. I want to finally be able to max everything In singleplayer games (i dont do mods) so not sure which one to get. But if the 1070 doesnt decrease in price from the ridiculous €500 ill have to go with 1060.
