[VC]GTX 1060 specifications leaked - faster than RX 480 - Page 8

Ditched them to go 2x 980 KPEs and they were great until the 980 Ti dropped like a month later and I sold them. Had 3x 980 Ti that was worse than 2x 980 Ti in FC4. Ended up getting a Fury and FreeSync monitor to play with but same issues I've had with their drivers in the past (FreeSync not working, tearing, downclocking despite being on water, issues setting 144 FPS, etc.). Now I'm on a single 980 Ti and am tempted to get two custom RX 480 cards because I don't want to fund Nvidia's (and Intel's) greed any longer (it also reminds me of the 6600 GT days where people would SLI those mid-range cards for nice performance gains) but I've had more issues on the red side than on the green side. Both sides suck and are terrible but my experience has been that Nvidia sucks a bit less.

You went through 11 GPUs in 2 years? But you don't want to fund Nvidia's greed? lachen.gif

With how many cards have sold, we should be hearing about motherboard failures en mass in the next few weeks if you are right. I doubt it will be a real issue if they lock the power target in the drivers unless you agree to a warning.

GTX 470/480/570/580 could easily kill a motherboard or PSU.

If it has that awesome FE cooler i'd say we're looking at $329.

If he bought them used, he doesn't contribute to marketshare.

"any longer" And something like that...

Had 2x 280X, then when the 900 series dropped a month later I picked up a reference 980, then sold it and got a 970 G1 Gaming, then a 2nd one and put them both under water, then returned both because of the 3.5 GB thing and got a 290X Lightning which I also put under water, then sold it to get 2x 290X TriX which I put under water, then sold it for 2x 980 KPE which I also put under water, then sold those to get 2x 980 Ti to put under water, then got a third 980 Ti to put under water, then got a Fury to put under water while selling two of the 980 Tis, then sold the Fury and now I'm left with a single 980 Ti. What's that like 14 cards in 2 years?

Edit: Yeah, August 2014 -> January 2016 (when I sold the Fury and have stuck with a single 980 Ti since).

Nvidia is going to continue and maybe even further extend its GPU market domination. Rx 480 is a PR nightmare worse than the ref R9 290X / R9 290 series. This is a debacle of epic proportions. reports of PCI-E slots dying

https://community.amd.com/thread/202410

AMD will not be able to recover from the negative PR around this launch. Nvidia is going to just laugh all the way to the bank with Pascal. The way AMD is going they might fold up within a year.

Number of 480's sold? Places are out of stock in a day, many reported large inventories beforehand (500-1000). Pallets of them were on display in some shops.

The number of units sold in the last day more than likely eclipses the total units moved for 1080 and 1070 combined in the last month.

A lot of doom and gloom in you. tongue.gif We really just need a third and fourth GPU company, so that prices on all the GPUs will magically drop and speeds will go up like what happened with the ISP's.
