Lian Li cases turning copper/bronze color?

Thread Starter
I've had my Lian Li PC-A75 since around late 2014 and my Lian Li PC-7B plus II since mid 2013, there both great cases but one thing i noticed recently is there both turning copper/bronze color on certain parts of the case and it looks really bad. I thought Lian Li had a reputation for doing good anodizing but im not sure about that anymore since i have two cases with the same issue. I have a Silverstone TJ09 that ive had for close to around 9 years and it looks just as good as when i got it brand new. Does anyone know the cause of why my Lian Li cases are turning copper color/bronze color over time? Every month it seems to get worse also.

I'm almost certain my warranty for the cases are expired, and ive tried contacting Lian Li support and its been a month with no response. Has anyone else had this issue with their Lian Li cases?

Example of the problem:

Check this out: Black anodizing turning bronze
If warranty has expired, sounds like you're out of luck unfortunately! Though, Lian Li should make it right, precisely because they have a reputation for quality products and this clearly does not make for a good showing of their product. I feel for you and sure hope my recently purchased PC-o5x will hold up better than that.

Thanks that post is excellent, glad i know what the cause of it is now smile.gif

Yeah its been past one year for my case so i think the warranty is gone for sure. Im going to try and contact Lian Li again and see if they will respond since i got no response from them with my last email. Hopefully they can offer a replacement case or parts for the PC-A75, i noticed the side panels are fine its just the front panel and top panel on the A75 thats the worst.

Maybe i can try and find a local shop to get them re-anodized but it sounds like that would probably come close to the cost of buying a new case.

You noticed recently that it changed like that? Are you sure that nothing happened with the cases? I mean, it looks quite obvious and I find it hard to believe that you didn't see that earlier (from the look of that I/O panel up top it looks like it was used quite a bit).

I noticed the front panel at first was getting discolored, then a few months down the road i took the case out from under my desk which is where it has been since i bought it and saw the top panel was by far the worst., it seems to still be getting more discolored as more time passes as well. The front panel and top panel certainly were not sealed properly since other parts of the case still remain black otherwise it would make sense for those parts to be copper/bronze color also.

Alecx, take a look at the link from my previous post. These things happen because of a sub-par anodizing job, not because the owner of case "used" the case. It just sits under your desk(or on your desk) really, it's not like you throw it around every day... I don't mean to sound aggressive towards you, but these things are not uncommon and you don't have to do anything for it to happen.

Im probably going to get it re-anodized if possible for $150 or under. If i do end up buying a new case it would have to be another Lian Li since full aluminum cases are my favorite haha. I looked into getting another Silverstone case, but im not a fan of their newer designs. The Evga X79 Classified board currently in the PC-A75 is XL-ATX so finding a case for it will be complicated.

This looks amazing though and would fit the X79 classified, just would need to find a place that still has it in stock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112380

Although i was thinking about just upgrading to a Evga X99 Micro board and pair it with this amazing looking case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112465 so many choices.

PPCs does have one in stock!

....and, just so it happens that...

biggrin.gif

I know it's not a PC-o6, it's the smaller brother(or sister) PC-o5x. Just got it a few days ago, for my daughter, hence the purple sleeve tongue.gif
It's a very, very nice case! I can't wait to see the finished build myself, let alone my daughter. In the end it was between the PC-o5x and the PC-V359WX, she chose the o5x (I was secretly hoping she would choose the o5x biggrin.gif )
I would get a o6s for my system, but it's not big enough for my custom loop. I'm considering building something based on the PC-o6 from scratch though, with enough room for two 360 rads.

Just wanted to give an update, Lian Li responded and sent me a replacement front panel and top panel, now my case looks brand new biggrin.gif They sent it with priority mail international and it arrived very fast. Excellent support from Lian Li, it means a lot that they stand by their products. Certainly will choose Lian Li hands down for a any upcoming builds i have planned in the future, which will probably be a PC-06/07.

Very nice, that build looks like its going to be perfect, i think the PC-06/07 is what i will go for in the near future, i only would watercool the CPU so hopefully there would be enough room for that. The PC-05X looks much cooler than the PC-V359WX thumb.gif
