No surprise at all. This is only news for people that don't follow tech news.

My un-opened factory sealed Rift CV1 and unopened Vive have been sitting in the corner of my room for two weeks as I waited for my 1080gtx.

I had been an early adopter with the DK2, but it made me extremely motion sick so I have been hesitant to go with the limited "seated experience" immersion of the CV1. After doing a goodly amount of research, it seems like people are less prone to simulator sickness with the Vive's method, so I decided to sell the dk2 and CV1 and setup the Vive this weekend.....however I caught a cold which also brought on pink eye mad.gif

Thy Holy Lord Gaben Saviour of PC cometh to banish thou demonic Facebook eye machine, fester of Satan-Facebook itself, and shepherd his followers unto nirvanic room scale VR.

So true about the motion sickness. Actually moving your body in VR alleviates the motion sickness from walking with a joystick controller. I came from a DK2 also and the Vive is definitely something to behold.

At the end of the day, Apple will take over the VR market by using some voodoo apple tech (buzzwords) to generate mass appeal (sheeple). It'll be a mighty fine product, regardless of the inferior hardware that will be used. Oh, and it'll cost a premium which people will gladly pay over msrp for (Apple Luxury Tax™)

And how, pray tell, will apple do that when they dont have any hardware that can come close to providing what the vive and rift require?

That's easy. Pay a reputable competitors for their hardware (prior to suing them), then hire a reputable factory (Chinese laborers) to do it.

Your last sentence gave me a good chuckle, love the dry sense of humor.
