Regular people have a hard time getting past the soap opera effect of HFR content and you want to push VR down their throats. You're delusional.
The same thing I do with my sim racing gear. Put it aside and use a proper method to play those other games. VR isn't a full monitor replacement (at least not right now, may be an alternative in the future), it's just a different approach. There are times i'll switch between my monitor and VIVE (Racing sims), basically the same reason I go from playing on my 28" 4K monitor to a 60"4k TV in the living room, to get a different perspective (regardless of game).
Don't think anyone is trying to "push VR down anyones throats" as much as people saying it's just a gimmick. Which to some may very well be a gimmick, that's fine too. It looks more or less like uninformed users are throwing their opinions.
Those of us who do own an HMD are just passionate about it. (For the price of entry you better be! lol) kinda sucks when someone who hasn't tried it comes in uninformed and slanging negatives. To each their own. You're either going to like it or not. It really isn't for everyone. I'm sure once the cost is reasonable for the mainstream and they iron out the specs for higher resolutions, it may just be another fad like the iPhone. We all know how that went ;)
