i dont see why you say that
the majority of the reviews we saw put 480 at the lowest of 8 fps and at max 11 fps behind a 1070..(dx12) and that was on stock before the new driver...i cant imagine if amd actually provides a leap of 40+% as they did from 380 to 480 on 390 to 490 what we will see..

you mean only in the broken DX12 of Hitman lachen.gif with Ashes lagging behind

every other DX12 (of which there are very little to matter) it gets smoked by 1070

It should be because it's a competition against 1060, not 1070 . and it will smoke 1060 in dx12. duhhhh, and dx11 after some driver upgrades and new games.

with a few magical AMD driver updates, the 480 will transform itself into a quantum GPU with a sentient AI

pretty sure no one will let this happen
they will bend the benches to make the 1060 look closer to 480 kinda like guru3d is doing

This is a very true statement - they test Ashes without using max settings in order for Nvidia go close the gap.

To be fair max settings in some games can create artificial bottlenecks. Thats not to say Ashes is an example of it though, just that it may be the excuse used by the reviewer. Gameworks would be an example of abuse of "max" settings.

A real review would compare them at various settings, not just one.
