yes of course

which is why Volta has to have hardware async, because in 2018 things wont be as they are now, where you can still ride quite comfortably on good DX11 performance and have it without DX12 patches or async patches

if it doesnt its gg

I trust Nvidia to realize that much redface.gif

Yeah DX11 is here right now. So... What do you want? Is it absolutely necessary to actually have the best performance under DX11 right now? Do you really need 150 fps compared to 100 fps right now for anything other than bragging rights? Or can you say that you're content with a good enough performance for DX11, knowing that you will get a significant boost with DX12/Vulkan?

Some of us buy the best current option which is the worse future option, under the pretext to spend more money when the company they love so much eventually catches up to the future standard that is already creeping up.
Some of us buy the ok current option which is the best future option, saving as much money as possible and still being satisfied with the performance.

The thing about DX12/Vulkan is that the performance benefit for AMD has been known. You are still paying DX11 money for both brands. For AMD you get more if DX12/Vulkan is available and for the Nvidia you get what you pay for. In a way it's the users decision which side to pick. The performance benefit of GCN are a bonus for me.

better dump that terribad 980Ti and get a Fury X asap ! that'll be an upgrade fo sure as long as you only play Doom Vulkan or Hitman 24/7 wink.gif

Terribad indeed, all the interesting titles from now on will be DX12 and the 1000 CAD I paid like 8-10 months ago is getting stomped by a 250$ card because it's architecture isnt on par when they clearly stated multiple time they had full dx12 support on maxwell. Cant wait VEGA to get a true dx 12 card.

Just look at it, looks like a slideshow on the most expensive X80 card yet.

I think Chev is a company's favorite kind of consumer.

I can't really comprehend this way of thinking .... so 150 fps in dx12 is great but 150 fps in dx11 is not necessary ? and 150 fps in dx11 is only for bragging but 150 fps in dx12 isn't ?
so you'd rather have 150 fps in one Vulkan game and 100 fps in all the other ones instead of 150 fps in all DX11 games but 100 fps in one Vulkan game ? You'd buy a 144hz display to run one game at it's native refresh instead of buying one to run all or most your games on it ?

I presonally think ppl who would buy Fury X and wait 12 months for it to beat 980Ti in one game are even better. But opinions are like, you know what, so let's just agree one has a right for his own way of thinking.

Fury X at least had something to show for 100$ extra (assuming that's the price for the CLC), unlike 1080 Rip-off Edition.

you mean that $100 CLC that was necessary for amd to even have anything on stock, reference 980ti ? nah that wasn't a rip off at all. Once the novelty of HBM,small form factor, standard liquid cooling and a totally friggin rad name has worn off it's nothing more than a decent card. It gets stuck somewhere between 980 and 980Ti due to its architecture and drivers getting a hard time clashing with DX11, with very little oc room.

yup, 1080 is a rip off alright, but what can you do.... amd's got nothing going on in this segment so nvidia can crucify ppl who wanted to sell 980ti's while they were still hot with prices
