is the creative sound blaster Zx worth to buy ? - Page 2

Thanks for you input.
I think I will get the SB ZX because of the ACM as its easier to plug my headphones and mic into the ACM.
Also the HD 558 has a 1/4" jack instead of the 1/8" which the ACM has input for both of them.
I might get a DAC sometime later but if I'm getting one is it neccesary to get a DAC and Amp combo or just the DAC will be enough ?

If anything, then the Amp is neccesary, because that's the factor for O/I.
I'm only sure that the SMSL SD793II has a really low O/I, because i compared it to the measurement of the Objective2, which is stated 0.5 Ohm O/I, and you can see that the bass frequency isn't touched at all, compared to SB-Z(+0.5dB at 120hz) or onboard (+3dB at 120hz).

http://www.overclock.net/t/1604894/is-the-creative-sound-blaster-zx-worth-to-buy#post_25317452

But i would be really interested to see such graph for the HD558(598). smile.gif
Maybe onboard shoots the Bass to +6dB there or something with them. biggrin.gif

This is what I get from testing it out with the On Board SC.

I am not sure how to read or interpret that correctly.
I have not tested the SB ZX because I have not yet gotten one but I tested this one to see what the on board SC can really do.
If this is good enough for my daily usage then I might get the SB ZX later on.
I am not sure how to read this and If you could help me out then that would be awesome.

this is how you must setup the test:

J55m6ELl.jpg

from amp(in this case the onboard line-out) to splitter, to headphones and line-in from onboard.

So when you run the test, you simultaneously hear the testtones from your headphones(which is pretty annoying tongue.gif).

Your graph is pretty flat, so i guess that it was not influenced by the headphones.

are you saying that my setup is not right ?
I dont have an amp or DAC and my RMAA isnt working properly I needed to run the installer as admin to get it working.
Should I download the RMAA 5 instead ?

i use rmaa 6.4.1
http://audio.rightmark.org/download.shtml

with setup i mean test setup - did you run the test with the headphones connected at the splitter(like in my pic, or an y-splitter cable), and from the splitter also another cable into the line-in of your onboardsound?

just imagine that the splitter you see in my pic, is plugged into the onboardsound line-out.

Yes I did it the same way you showed me.
The only difference from your explanation is that I did not hear any test sound coming out of my headphones.

hmm, if you didn't hear the testtones, something must have gone wrong - if the headphones are not driven at the same time, the results are meaningless in this case.

Since you got a graph in the end, it can only mean that it's the fault of the 3.5mm splitter, that you didn't hear the testtones.
