I bought the Sound Blaster Z, and it works, nothing out of the ordinary as far as I can tell.
At the beginning I had some issues with the DTS audio format, not sure exactly why it happened but in 5.1 channel configuration I couldn't get any sound on the front speakers with that specific kind of file, but when clicking the volume scroll bar, I could get audio from windows and noticed noticed the audio from the file that was being played but only appeared in the instant of the windows sound chime, I concluded that it was a virtual channel separation and changed it to 2.1 and got audio normally.
I noticed that I can't control the audio volume from my pc when using optical output, I only had an old motherboard onboard audio that had this issue, but never understood the reason behind it, anyway I've got more important problems.
The crashes are not caused by temps exclusively, I tried changing some settings in bios, but compared to my old M5A97, this bios behaves erratically, in the old board I could set a manual voltage and frequency and it would allow me to change it once in the OS with K10 stat, MSRTweaker or any similar software, however this one locks it and not even cool and quiet can adjust it again, very bothersome, the only way to be able to change it is if I use Auto or Offset, but they have their disadvantages too. Auto would set the starting voltage too high over 1.55v unnecessarily, but Offset would adjust with the set value difference over the last it found, and that is pretty bad because I have seen it apply the value twice or more, I have seen start up voltages of 1.5, 1.4 and 1,3, with the same offset value applied which is nuts! Mostly because the system could easily get into windows even with 1.3 volts at 4.7GHz, but it would only crash when a considerable load is applied, which crashes the system and refuse to start because of the auto protection issue.
Frr some more crazy tests I've made sure that is not temps, because I even dared to start the system touching the base of the CPU heat sink and the VRM heat spreader, and they don't even start to get warm when the auto protection is triggered, this is very confusing, even my GPU gets way hotter during start up than the CPU.
However this only happens after a crash which is not that common, but it happens, and bothers me because is quite unpredictable and annoying when it does.
For example, it happened yesterday and after trying to turn it on like 10 times giving it time in between, because the less time I gave it between attempts the faster it would shut down again but it would hit a wall of around 5 seconds. Then I decided to open it up, and that is when I touched the components to feel the temps and turn it on while doing that and the issue didn't show up again.

But I don't think it should be temps in my case though, I would need to tear it down again just to make sure, because its possible that all the sensors are giving me completely wrong values, maybe I will try with the Phenom if it still works.Edited by Krnt - 8/8/16 at 9:35am
