I don't click on the exe but the entire folder as the "either/or" switches are scattered everywhere. And indeed if it is in Java, then it is likely that the ICC Patcher will not find much as Java and Macroshaft have had their differences in the past.

Good luck with the ram. Chanting and incantations sometimes help.

I would do, but I think I need a sacrifice too.

After all these voltages I couldn't get anything stable at 2400, but it was so close that I think its achievable but I may be missing something:

On the other hand 2133 do not need any of this and the performance gain could be negligible.

The next is part of a post that wrote in another site about a sound card issue I have.
Quote:
The sound card couldn't be recognized by the Windows. I didn't notice it before because I have been using the TV through HDMI until I got all the necessary configuration done, and the sound works that way without an issue since its coming out of the video card hdmi.

I thought it was a driver issue or something like that but after installing all updates and verifying that it was enabled in the BIOS I looked in the Device Manager and I found nothing except from the nvidia audio adapter, and seems that it wasn't there to begin with.

Searching on google seems to be that this is a common issue with these boards, people normally would RMA these, but I can't do that, I bought the board online from the US and I'm in Panama, also I don't even want to gamble to receive a board that would probably not perform as good as this in the things that matter, so its not really worth it.

If you think this can be solved, I can welcome any recommendations, but if there is not, I would like to know which card would be better to buy.

I specifically need SPDIF output, and stability, which are the best things that the integrated audio cards have provided me since 2006.

However once I had a side pc that the onboard audio died and bought a cheap creative audigy, good sound, horrible and unstable drivers mad.gif It was so frustrating that I gave up on the audio card, sold it and rather used some cheap usb speakers with integrated sound card that I had around, while the pc lasted, which was like 6 months. I was notified that the sound card died a few months after I sold it.

So I'm trying to avoid that fiasco, by following any of your recommendations.

I'm leaning to a Creative Sound Blaster Z, its around 100 bucks in a local shop, but I need to know how good or reliable it is, and if the drivers are not as bad as the previous I have had, but if not worth the difference I could take the cheaper Audigy Rx, for 20 bucks less.

Also in the performance results I have a few surprises, after changing to the 16GB 2400 sticks, my 3Dmark Firestrike scores with 8 cores have improved to almost match when I had only 4 cores enabled, still not as good but much better and without any dubious tricks, which is quite surprising, because both have the same clocks and almost the same timings, all other settings were the same.

And for bonus a screenshot playing The Division:

You are just about at the cpu clocks where high ram clocks start to make a difference.

About X-FI drivers, a few years ago the Creative drivers were very bad and it took a lot of tinkering to find good ones. For the last 2 years or more they have been good though and the only problem I have had is that the puter would boot up with no sound and the sound card could not be found. Then the hard drive failed and was replaced with an SSD. Since then it has lost the sound on bootup only one time and a reboot fixed it.

Get the Z but be prepared to spend more than that on quality headphones or hot rod speakers, as it will only really strut its stuff with good output devices. Cheap pc speakers or $25 headphones will lose at least half of the quality sounds that the sound card puts out.

OUCH!! Those temps and humidity would kill me.

After many weeks of testing the settings I ended up are very stable, I just had one crash that I attribute to the turbo core, it just happened once while playing Supreme Commander I'm still confused, I just know that in a 5 vs5 match only one of the CPU cores was at a 100% for a long time before it crashed, and hasn't happened again.

Aside from that, I can confirm that my old GTX 460 SE died because of memory or something around that, you can see a lot of memory artifacts showing even while booting up, I'm thinking that the bad PSU could have damaged it because it was a gradual damage that increased during a week, or the dust, I forgot to clean it before storing it, the dust could have kept humidity on the card doing some damage and it showed up after some time while using it, there is no visible damage and the card still shows video, corrupted though.

That last inconvenient will make my old phenom II unusable until I get new card, and can figure out the other issue with it.

But I'm glad the FX works as intended, however I just have 3 P-states active, 1.6, 4.7 and 5Ghz turbo, I can't seem to enable the other P-states for some odd reason, I can edit them with AMDMsrTweaker, but they don't show up in PSCheck, also the processor does not engage them at all.

If anyone know how to make them active It would be greatly appreciated

Another thing that is bothering me is the inconsistency of the fan control on this motherboard, while in bios it works as intended, but once it get into windows things could change, sometimes they work correctly managed by AI suite, but other times they run too slow to the point that the fans start making "capacitor" noises due to the excessively low voltage and some of them can't even run, this only affect case fans, the CPU fan works correctly, but mostly because the case fans are low RPM fans and since their top speed is so low, around 1300RPM, they are too close to their low limit speed and sometimes being unable to turn, and they only keep shaking in an attempt to turn, if you help them they are able to turn very slowly but making these annoying capacitor noises, just like a Traxxas RC car at very low speeds.

1) I don't use AI Suite as it is buggy for me. It seems to work ok for others.

2) In the bios in the "monitor" section there is a place where the chassis fans can be adjusted. I like mine best at 90%.

I originally set them up in bios, but I used AISuite's Thermal Radar because there you can set which sensor to use as source, and I'm using Vcore1, fixed fan speeds are not an option at all, dust is too much of an issue for me.

Strangely, even after I disabled AI suite, the issue would still show, last time it went away after activating AISuite and reapplying the fan settings.

I will keep playing with it to see which method behave the better.

Also I just noticed that ASUS announced their new 990FX SABERTOOTH R3.0, would be a good option if my old board was the issue that killed my Phenom II system, I just wish it doesn't go too high in price.

EDIT:
For the moment I haven't had the fan issue again, but after some playing some demanding old games that only stress one core, the computer was freezing, the cause most likely instability, most likely of the turbo.

But I tried to turn it on again just after the issue, the computer showed a very odd behavior.

The computer would not pass the pre-POST test, during this test I logged with my UPS and the system would gradually raise its power consumption up to 530 watts just after cutting out power, this is the highest power I've seen this PC drawing power, and this is a even more complicated situation because the fans will not kick to normal speed until it has passed this test and show bios and post, so during this tests that can last up to 5 seconds the fans would barely move, and work at minimum speed. The reason of the power cut seemed like the motherboard protecting the CPU from high temps, this matches with the fact that it will start normally after I let it rest a while.

Anyway, I disabled Turbo and seems to have solved the crashes, this is expected because I have never been able to overclock past 4.7 completely stable with this CPU using multipliers, it would work for normal workloads but nothing that stresses it, like prime.

Next step would be to tweak the BLCK to see if anything better can be achieved.

EDIT2: After more testing I'm pretty sure that the crashes are caused by temps, and the system is protecting itself after this happens.
Fortunately, this only happens when stress testing and not during normal operations, not even the most CPU intensive game I have tested yet achieves this state.

The most accurate or at least closest approximate temp value is from Speedfan, once this one reaches 70°C the system crashes, the worst case I've seen in a game from this metric is from The Division, reaching 59°C, all other games are way below, In 3DMark Sky Diver benchmark it reaches 62°C during the physics test, this is higher than in Firestrike BTW in which reaches only 60°C, during Cinebench R15 CPU test it reaches 64°C just at the end, if the test was longer the temps would keep climbing like it happened in Frybench, which it crashed after reaching 70°C.

So as expected my air cooling solution is not enough to keep it under control, however it perform as I expected. I will change it eventually, but I have other priorities first.

I bought the Sound Blaster Z, and it works, nothing out of the ordinary as far as I can tell.
At the beginning I had some issues with the DTS audio format, not sure exactly why it happened but in 5.1 channel configuration I couldn't get any sound on the front speakers with that specific kind of file, but when clicking the volume scroll bar, I could get audio from windows and noticed noticed the audio from the file that was being played but only appeared in the instant of the windows sound chime, I concluded that it was a virtual channel separation and changed it to 2.1 and got audio normally.

I noticed that I can't control the audio volume from my pc when using optical output, I only had an old motherboard onboard audio that had this issue, but never understood the reason behind it, anyway I've got more important problems.

The crashes are not caused by temps exclusively, I tried changing some settings in bios, but compared to my old M5A97, this bios behaves erratically, in the old board I could set a manual voltage and frequency and it would allow me to change it once in the OS with K10 stat, MSRTweaker or any similar software, however this one locks it and not even cool and quiet can adjust it again, very bothersome, the only way to be able to change it is if I use Auto or Offset, but they have their disadvantages too. Auto would set the starting voltage too high over 1.55v unnecessarily, but Offset would adjust with the set value difference over the last it found, and that is pretty bad because I have seen it apply the value twice or more, I have seen start up voltages of 1.5, 1.4 and 1,3, with the same offset value applied which is nuts! Mostly because the system could easily get into windows even with 1.3 volts at 4.7GHz, but it would only crash when a considerable load is applied, which crashes the system and refuse to start because of the auto protection issue.

Frr some more crazy tests I've made sure that is not temps, because I even dared to start the system touching the base of the CPU heat sink and the VRM heat spreader, and they don't even start to get warm when the auto protection is triggered, this is very confusing, even my GPU gets way hotter during start up than the CPU.

However this only happens after a crash which is not that common, but it happens, and bothers me because is quite unpredictable and annoying when it does.

For example, it happened yesterday and after trying to turn it on like 10 times giving it time in between, because the less time I gave it between attempts the faster it would shut down again but it would hit a wall of around 5 seconds. Then I decided to open it up, and that is when I touched the components to feel the temps and turn it on while doing that and the issue didn't show up again.

My problem is similar to this one:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?81089-CrossHair-Formula-z-AMD-9370-FX-shuts-down-after-a-few-seconds
But I don't think it should be temps in my case though, I would need to tear it down again just to make sure, because its possible that all the sensors are giving me completely wrong values, maybe I will try with the Phenom if it still works.

Ok, I have been able to confirm that its not a temperature issue, its something to do with the power being drained, when the PC successfully starts completely, the power consumption never exceeds 460 watts, o the other hand when fails it goes way over 500. this mostly happens when the bios fails to apply settings and returns everything to default, and since the defaults are so crazy high in power consumption, the PC would protect itself. Its also similar to what happened to both previous PSUs 450GX and the Silent 700M, so I'm thinking the PSU is the culprit again.

One of the main reasons that tells me this could be the case is because I suspect that my old V700 has been bad since the beginning, I bought it to replace the 700M, possibly because of its dying capacitors, but this new one had a similar problem, the first load up of my systems will always fail with a freeze on post, making me have to force shut but after that It would start correctly.

If that same issue has gotten more critical with the high loads, or the PSU was never able to keep up with those high start up loads, then it means that I have to get a new PSU.

If I have no crash it will never have an issue starting, because it will load the optimized undervolted settings.

With that said I have had a lot of fun with this new system, I just wish I had more time and money for it.biggrin.gif

I'd probably aim for lower latency at 2133 rather than try for 2400. I'm just using a weak UD3P board but although I could run at 2400 the latency required was much higher. I was able to get 2133 to 9-11-10-27-CR1 and top the charts for lowest latency in AIDA64, with Patriot 2400 RAM rated for CR3.

Yeah, 2400 is out of question, even with the max latency timings that the board could get wasn't enough, also I became afraid of corrupting the OS, since it was doing very crazy things during start up, something I have never seen before.

Those are some pretty tight timings:thumb:

Unfortunately, I will never get anything better than that, everything else is unstable, raising the FSB is the only thing that could help for the moment.
