I think it's sad that Valve games have turned into this. I mean you expect this kind of thing from the boys over at EA or Ubisoft. Valve ends up looking more greedy then all of them with schemes like this.

Dishonest, malicious are the words that come to mind. The youtuber side of this is one thing but Valve could shut this all down in an instant if they wanted to.

is this not good enough for you either ?

No, they are not. Bloomberg is highly politicized and so is BBC. First they wanted to regulate our free speech in video games via making up lies about violence, now it's about gambling. I'd like to solidly say that our governments are absolute scum and you're going along with it.

The gachapon-like nature of the crates is really common, it's basically a raffle. You buy a ticket and get random stuff. Not sure if I can disagree with that, since most people don't seem to be in it only for reselling their skins I'd imagine. As for the gambling sites, these operate on actual gambling on competitive match outcomes as far as I'm aware, which is totally an issue if advertised improperly.

edit: looks like some of these sites also allow actual gamble with the items for more items outside of the game with a direct premise of some market value of the weapons used alike real money, so this is getting iffy there, imo.
