The fact that it's coming is a surprise to no one methinks. My question is... when. If it's 2016, it's worth waiting for (though I highly doubt that). If it's 2017, I'll wait for the 1060 to come out, see which $/perf is better between that and the 480. That should hold me out until competition to the 1070/80 comes rolling around.

I think that's right...

The only thing is, If they decide to use the same GP102 on the ti and titan, I don't think they'd want a version that uses GDDR5X, and another that uses HBM. Doesn't really make all that much sense. Unless they're trying to differentiate performance enough to warrant making two separate SKUs.

IMHO full Titan P will definitely be HBM2, but 1080Ti may or may not be

the OP also talks of a 375W Pascal and a 300W Pascal .. maybe 375W = HBM2, 300W = G5X ?

just to get 980Ti/Titan X owners to upgrade .. lots of them passed on the 1080 and rightfully so

plus the high-end community has been waiting for a long time for that "4K @ 60+ fps @ single GPU" sweet combo, so just for that alone they will clear Titan P or 1080Ti off the shelves and price wont even matter if it can do 4K@60

Yup. I mean, 4k is already doable with no AA (to be fair, not really needed on 4k anyway) and medium settings...but 4k/60 at high settings? Hell yeah I'll upgrade. That's what I'm and many others are waiting for right now.

well obviously the 375W will be the more powerful expensive one with more cores

so that may justify using the best (and most expensive) HBM2 memory on it as well to make a true monster

while the lesser one makes due with less cores and lesser memory

I just figured that if the core count differs by a mere 300 cores, the power consumption difference wouldn't be that big.

AMD dropped about 20-30W didn't they using HBM iirc?

If the Titan card uses HBM2 then I'd expect it to use the same total power or less than the 1080ti with a big pile of DDR5.

Also it takes up less space and it's possible to have between 4-32GB vram. But the biggest advantage is ofc the 1024GB/s fast memory (compare that to 320GB/s GDDR5X on the 1080).
