Nvidia has revenue requirements to make, which no one on OCN thinks or talks about. I'm sure NV has short, medium and longer term QTR to QTR Revenue targets, meaning Revenue they are counting on. We don't know how well they are doing at any period until after a public earnings report, but even then we are blind to their projections.

If their Revenue roadmap is planning on a release of the the Titan P in the short term, they will do it. We have to remind ourselves, this company is not doing this for altruistic GPU fanboy reasons. Follow the fat man with the cash... and you'll not be surprised.

I tested my windforce oc gigabytes 1070 gtx today (i didnt overclock it myself until now, but i tested it in OC mode with guru extreme) ,in witcher3 at ultra no AA no hairwork at 4k i got 40fps with the 1070. At the same location with my old 980ti G1 fully overclocked by myself i got 46fps. Anywhere in the game the difference between the 2 cards is 4 to 6fps more for my old 980ti G1 overclocked fully. Next week i will overclock my 1070, i suppose the performance will be the same with the 2 cards

The point is, if the last four years of product cycles from Nvidia hold true, they would've never planned on releasing a titan in 2016 anyway. Profitability from the 1080/1070/1060 will be more than enough to suffice for the rest of this year. The only way I see that changing is if AMD unexpectedly dropped a high-performance Vega card into the market in the fall. But that too is highly unlikely.

I have no doubt what you say is true, Nvidia could go completely without the Titan and not miss a beat, I just think they are maximising profits. They have to pay for those McMansions... :D

nah, comparison metric that takes into account OC is unreliable because way too many variables:

1. non-factory OC is lottery-based, ymmv
2. max OC, how's that defined? max on air? max on LN2?
If both are max on water, are they using identical cooler?

the only thing dumb and ignorant here is posts like yours. i had a gtx670 and people said it's overkill for 1080p. i had gtx 780 and people said it's overkill for 1080p. i have 980ti and people said it's overkill for 1080p but i already find myself lowering gfx settings to achieve 60+fps. i'll be using 1080ti for whatever resolution i damn please and there isn't a single thing you can do about it, so DEAL WITH IT.

I am curious, what game are you struggling to achieve 60fps+ with maxed out settings on 1080p with 980ti?

how overclocked is your 980Ti G1 ?

but yes: OC 1080 > OC 1070 = OC 980Ti

many. GTA5, witcher3, division, rise of the tomb raider. (there are some newer games that i don't own, afaik Hitman is very demanding etc) problem is, when people see benchmarks they only care about these nice looking avarage fps graphs. what matters the most for me is minimal fps. 80fps or 200fps avarage is meaningless to me if i get drops to 50s or 40s from time to time.
