Heck depending on how Vega fairs nVidia may not even need a 1080 Ti this round, and if you want the big chip, it's Titan or bust.

There would be little reason to release a 1080Ti if Vega fails to match or significantly beat the 1080. Nvidia fanboys ought to be praying that Vega turns in a strong performance...

regardless of Vega, IMHO after some months of Titan milking it makes sense to release 1080Ti, just to give an upgrade option to 980Ti owners who dont wish to pay over $1000 for the Titan P

With their brand and ecosystem as strong as it is I don't think they'd need to do so if Vega doesn't pan out. Why spend extra money prepping another product when you can simply offer the 1080 or the Titan knowing that so many Nvidia owners will upgrade regardless? At that point the only reason for the 1080 Ti would be the double-milk, getting 1080 owners to upgrade again to the 1080 Ti, but if they don't reckon that the number of holdouts will be significant they could count on the Titan for that as well. They tested the waters with the 1080's FE pricing and now the Titan's typical MSRP doesn't seem a bridge too far to many, judging by the reactions we've seen.

didnt know where else to post, but since Titan is affected by Vega - might as well post here

AMDs latest roadmap shows Vega still slated for early 2017 .. no October nonsense

I disagree with this statement to a point. HBM didn't make the Fury X a better card than the 980Ti with its regular GDDR5

HBM1 allowed for ~1.33x the memory bandwidth of the 390/x.

Maxwell and Pascal just use significantly less memory bandwidth per frame than GCN does, especially gcn 1.0 / 1.1

HBM1 was going from ~336 - 384GB/s to 512GB/s.

HBM2 is 1024GB/s

Even with Gsync and maintaining 60fps things felt laggy and sloppy. No matter the game. Fallout 4, BF4, Doom, Battefront, FCPrimal. I believe are current available DisplayPort tech is whats causing this experience. No matter how strong your PC is and how well designed the Display is the cable struggling to push things along smoothly. In today's market I believe the best available experience in PC gaming is the X34. Unreal immersion, fantastic picture quality and vibrancy along with 100hz and Gsync. I played on a friends this past friday and sent my 4K back today and ordered the X34.
You didnt play on my Samsung JS8500 55" , its the 2nd best tv of 2015 go read at rtings.com. NO BLUR AT ALL, NO Ghostling, it beat all monitor i had before. Dont check the specification of a monitor or tv ( they played with numbers everytime), play with it yourself to evaluate. The js8500 even in hdmi is the best iq i have seen from any monitor or other tv.i tested 24ms for input lag which is fine for me

There's zero reason to release a 1080 TI if there's no market pressure.. but a "luxury" item like a titan, which you can put a crazy price tag on like 1,400$, is a compelling sell.
I agree, and titan coming in sept wink.gif
If titan is too strong for amd to compete , nvidia can play fair with amd and release a 3dfx voodoo6 or TnT3 instead , everyone would be surprised wink.gif

Vega or no Vega Nvidia release Ti not to compare to someone, but for own personal profit. After peeps buyng titan there are some that doesn't wish to pay so much and looking for alternative - this is where Ti comes, so nvidia to collect more money from the people. Sound about right, don't you agree?

exactly

1080Ti will come even if Vega fails to beat 1080 by a significant margin

plenty of people with 980Ti/Titan X may decide to hold off a little longer and wait for 1080Ti instead of dumping money on the Titan P

especially if the big Titan P will be more than $1000
