[Various] Pascal Titan could be 50% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 - Rumoured to launch in August - Page 84

As I said this is just my opinion, I'm sure there's people out there willing to play with 12 fps as long as they play on a 4k screen. Personally I think when it comes to gaming (no, I'm not a streamer/comp/prof) fps trumps resolution every time. I'd much prefer if Nvidia/AMD focused on mastering 2k before moving on to 4k/5k like I'm seeing.

And yes if you play with 60hz 1440p 1080 is fine, so is the titan X and even a gtx 980 TI can do well with a few exceptions, so what's the point of a gtx 1080? It can run 1440p 60hz just like previous cards and it can't run 60hz 4k like the previous cards and even a 980 is a 1080p overkill, so you tell me, what's the point of this card?

To me, again my personal opinion, the market right now doesn't make much sense. Serious gamers, with a few exceptions, will want 144hz, that should be the objective before moving on to bigger resolutions.

I'll be getting 2 Pascal Titans for 2k 144hz, not so much because I want fancy settings on, I'm fine lowering settings if they have little to no difference, but so when a 4k 144hz panel is out and a 'reasonable' price to me, I should be good.

Honestly from 90hz+ the difference is very small I find, now from 60hz to 90+ is like night and day, could never go back to a 60hz panel.

60 to 90 is very noticeable for me too and I prefer 90 fps with a mix of settings than 60 fps all maxed out. as for framerates over 90, 120 fps is great in fast paced games where you move around quickly and it's great combined with ulmb mode. 120 to 144 is hardly a parceptible difference for me. Overall, fps adds a lot more to immersion from my point of view than 4K can.
I'd like to try a panel with 200hz ulmb mode some day, I bet that'd be just ridiculous.

I think the only way we'll be able to strobe at 200 Hz without artifacts is with OLED tech.

Hopefully one Pascal Titan would be enough for 4k at consistent 60fps in high settings. Should be better than just two 1070's in SLI and with that said, probably more expensive too. I don't play competitively- more about just enjoying games with detailed eye candy. But I still have to look at some 120-144hz monitors in person and see if I'll just go with one of them instead (at a lower 1440p resolution).

Finally i didnt buy the acer 144hz, IQ is not good enough vs my samsung js8500, about playing 4k , im willing to play at 4k but i want at least 60fps most of time, 30-40hz is not good enough and too much blur. Like someome said 12fps at 4k , lol nobody could play at that. More than 60fps is very good but not essential. 30-40fps is playable for some people but its not great at all. I did some part of rise of tomb raider at 27-40fps at very high with my old 980ti, it was playable but not very fun, i could say it barely playable, playable to limit, sorry my english is not perfect. Most of my friend that play pc games, play games even at 25-30fps, but to me 50-70fps not lower is really better, even necessary

I can't play at even 60-70 FPS on my 60hz monitor. Still feels clunky. I need at least 100+ in all the games I play(shooters at least)

I played cs go on a 60hz and I had the same feeling, you get the more up to date frame every refresh if your fps is higher even on lower refresh rate screen. let say you play at 120 you would get a more current frame shown to you. It's not the same as displaying all the frames, but it feels marginally better. That being said, 144 hz is just a must at this point.

Bingo. 60-100 is huge. 100+ not so much. This is why the X34 is perfect for most gamers imo. 60 or below gives me motion sickness limits my playing time and how I feel afterwards. This is why 4k isn't ready for PC gaming imo.
