GG AMD.Hope Zen works out better for them than this "always late to the party" strategy they have with GPUs
I got boo'ed out of a rx480 thread for saying this about a month before it's release. My point was AMD is always a quarter late with it's releases. Had the rx480 come out with the 1080 and 1070 it would have been ok. it probably needed to be -$50 cheaper to be a truly great release, but it was solid. The problem the rx-480 had was it was a card for a market which didn't exist. Everyone who wanted a card in that performance bracket already bought a 970... or a used 780 or a 290 or a 390 almost 2 years earlier. saturated market, poor quality card $50 over AMD market value for it's offerings, guaranteed it to be a flop. But the biggest problem of all was (as i pointed out then) people would just say "wait for the 1060".
THAT IS AMD's PROBLEM in a nutshell. No one wants their ****. Not at the price they want to sell it anyway. Nvidia is in the enviable position right now to basically be able to release **** on a stick and people would line up to buy it like sheeple buy apple products. The only way you beat that is offer a better product for the same price OR offer the same product for a significantly lesser price. You can't sell an inferior product at any price if you're AMD.
Zen is going to be a repeat. It will probably overclock like a dream, perform like a haswell, and give you more cores per $$, but people are still going to say "skylake-e is coming out shortly, wait for that!" or "Kaby lake will be released in 4 weeks, wait for that!" and they'll go no where with it. They're completely out of touch with their market
