Bottleneck with new cards?

Hi everybody,

With the release of the new cards and the fact the I finally got a job! I have been thinking of upgrading my AMD 7870.

You can check out my build down here, but the main components are:
CPU: AMD FX 8350
RAM: 8GB Kingston
Mother: Gigabyte 990FX UD5 (am3+)
PSU: Sentey 850w (I used to have three cards mining)
Monitor: Acer 1920x1080

First I thought of getting the GTX 980 ti , but now I´m thinking of the 1070 or the 1080.
The fact that I only have one monitor at 1080p makes it kind of pointless to have so much vram right? Perhaps in the future I will upgrade to 1440p
The thing I´m very hype about is VR (oculus rift) so maybe is not that pointless to have 8gb of vram...

Is there much difference between GDDR5 and GDDR5X in reality?

But with the CPU I have now, which am3+ came to the end of the road, I can only upgrade to the 9590 which I don´t think will yield too much difference. Could this prove to be a bottleneck for the 1070 or 1080?

PD: I live in Argentina, my father is traveling to USA to visit a relative in December. So I have time to save money and wait for new custom cards.

Thanks!

I have a 980ti Strix OC and was able to try it in my brother's system also to compare results. I was surprised that his 8320 overclocked to 4.2ghz was not too far behind my stock 4790k. Hope this helps you!

Great info thanks!
I guess next year I will upgrade to AMD Zen or Intel Kaby Lake anyway.
