A temporary fix for the excess PCI-E slot power draw for the reference RX 480 cards - Page 13

post #121 of 178
@Gorod

Cool you knew about PE wink.gif . Yeah, know Fiji scale bad with voltage redface.gif . To me it seems cards which have low DPM 7 VID scale better with voltage, did you ever by any chance take registers dump via AiDA64 (shows VID per DPM) for that Fury X?

IIRC I used +50mV for the 1175MHz run, it was just bench stable without artifact but I know from other clock testing it would not be stable for 24/7 use plus it would defo need more volts = scaling issue.

does EMBD apply the load balancing shift ?
3100 gpu score in FSU is really making me consider buying a reference card

Thread Starter
No, it does not. Power limits and max MEMCLK only.
post #124 of 178
might be nice to include it so we can manipulate the bias as needed

You proly mean 3300 gpu score. i think even a 390X has to be oc'ed to reach that score. i know my 290 will have to. not even 1300 core on my 290 won't reach that. Stock bios i mean,

Why is it limited to only one GPU?

...nvm I actually ran the program wink.gif btw would this effect anything if im running 200/300 based cards in the same system?

The Stilt you got a mention on the PCPER blogcast tonight over this fix. Props.

What if you get a no response and cant do this.. just wait?

Will amd's "fix" resolve the issue with my gpu or is it going to be a lost cause?

I got a silly question to ask, if I mod the card by removing the capacitor that connect to PCIe power and then tap the positive side of the 6-pin power capacitor and solder it to negative side of former PCIe power, will it work? Image below is the illustrated
