Powergate, are you using Furmark or a game to stress the VRM?

What thermal adhesive did you use? If you mix it right that stuff should be close to permanent (used it to fix a sub as I didn't have any other epoxy). Try a combo of thermal adhesive in the center and super glue near the edges much like how you had the sinks glued before and let it cure for 24hrs. Also consider finding something that'll let you mount them a bit better. If solder is an option that's even better for attaching them together. You should be able to get far better vrm temps with that setup than 100c+

@Echoa
Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive

I've attached this heatsink on the back now:

That's the stuff I used, maybe bad mix or didn't cure enough? I think maybe your vrms are just really angry xP they want to be at 90c really badly

sorry...im new....i got a 480 nitro oc ...
id like to change thermal paste and thermal pad for better performance.... biggrin.gif
could you tell me what kind of thermal pad i need for ram and vrm ? there are 3 size .... 0.5mm 1mm and 1.5 mm ? what use ?
many thanks
post #117 of 133
Fujipoly, 1mm. Go for the 11w/mk or better. I typically use gelid extreme/thermal grizzly kryonaut on my gpus

Hi,

i made the nearly the same mod as the thread opener, but have serious temperature problems.

Im using the whole stock reference cooling plate and modified it, so that the twin turbo is fitting on top of it. Additionally i replaced the stock thermal pads with arctic thermal pads. Same with the thermal paste on the arctic accelero twin turbo III, which i replaced it with mx-4 paste. Didnt put on too much paste.

Now, after 15 mins of doom, my VRM Temperature is rising to 110 celsius, i stopped gaming then.

GPU went up to 81.

What the hell is going on?

Vrms are placed at a deadspot and axially fans cannot push across the card. Luckily, you can refit the original cooler. Gpu>vrm arrangement is strictly aligned with such a directional cooling.

so, what i have to do is to cut the connection between the vrm and the gpu through the cooling plate because they are heating each other?
