Micro SD cards on mobo for OS? why not?

Why don't motherboards come with three or five micro SD card slots intended for a raid5 OS drive? for $90 you get a 256gb array with three 128gb cards (if I did that raid math right).
I know M.2 is trying to do what I am saying, but M.2 is huge compared to a micro SD. Five micro SD card slots would take up much less space on the board. In a micro ATX build or laptops This would be pretty great.

Before M.2 existed I saw the 32gb micro SD cards coming out and assumed that was the future.

well micro sd cards have reliability issues but the biggest one is speed, even hard drives have higher and more consistent speeds. the size constraint is ungodly limiting for speed. some do have decently fast speeds but they are way more expensive vs the cheapest options. it just doesnt work out cost wise at that point.
