Quick question on the RX 480's, DX12, and CPU bottlenecks

Hey all quick question, sorry if it's been asked already. I'm running an 1100T @4ghz with an R9 280X. Screen res is 1080P. I realize that the RX 480 will bottleneck because of the CPU on DX11. But will an 1100T bottleneck an RX 480 running DX12? My future plans are to build a new system from scratch using all the new AMD archs. But that time is not here yet and I've fallen out of the loop lately. Thanks.

Are there any games that suffer because of your current current config ? If not, I'd hold out for Vega as a possible upgrade along with the entire system as I think investing now in a new VGA card that could potentially be bottlenecked by the processor is a bad investment. Sure, DX12 alleviates some of it, but majority of the games still don't use DX12 and some are just DX11 games ported to DX12 and that too in a sloppy way. Besides, your 280x should still offer competitive performance at 1080p.

No, but I'm at the upper limit of what my system can run maxed out. Black Ops 3 on max settings capped @ 60fps only drops below 60 on a certain map and I think that's just because the map isn't optimized quite right. And thanks for making some good points here, great information. See, I've just started picking up random parts for the future build when I see a good deal/sale. 1tb Mushkin SSD came yesterday for example. I'm just itching to upgrade I guess. As you can see, it's been a while since I've purchased any shiny new parts for my gaming rig lol. Guess I'll try to patient a little longer weirdsmiley.gif
