Edit: Maybe my 2400mhz ram is holding it back. Not sure if thats a thing.

2400MHz DDR3 could hold you back some. What cooling are you using on the CPU?

Try running realbench instead of IBT, which is what we test with.

I'm using a Cryorig H7 cooler, and Arctic MX-4 paste, with my Gigabyte Z97MX board. Running it now at 1.25v, and I do realbench, but get temps upwards of 92 on the cpu. Is that normal? I can't push any higher because of it.

Also idling at ~35 if it matters.

Edit: Wanted to say I'm happy with what I have now, running it @4.6 with 1.250vcore and 1.9 input voltage. My temps are a little better, but still wondering if this is normal. I know it's supposed to be a hot chip, but I thought delidding would do more. This is also with speed fan setting my fans to 100% fyi.

My case is the Fractal arc mini r2, did an matx build.

Since it's been almost three days....I'll stick my neck out a bit?

My 4790K bought from SL too, the max temp I've ever seen and only for a few minutes when stress testing was 75C...
I don't know what speeds you're looking at? Though, you did report volts....my volts at 1.273 @ 4.8ghz for the last 18 months.

I use a Corsair H100i with the fans and pump at full speed and play a game called Insurgency (single core dependant game, heavy usage) for more than several hours at a time....I use HWiNFO64 to keep track of all temps and volts...highest temp on CPU ever...was 65C on a hot day.

You might wanna consider the same? smile.gif
